Since my 435d departed, I've really missed it. Made a mistake getting rid of it. Had it from new and did 40k miles in it.

Looking at an AUC 435i at the moment and wondering what sort of discount I should be trying for (if any is generally possible on an AUC) or what sort of price I should be paying.

Spec is;

Nov 2014, 20k miles.
19" M Star-spoke style 403M alloy wheels
Sunroof
M Sport braking system
Adaptive M Sport suspension
Variable sport steering
Reversing Assist camera
High-beam Assistant
Park Assist
Adaptive Headlights
Enhanced Bluetooth with USB and Voice
Navigation system Professional
Harman Kardon loudspeaker system

A lot of stuff my 435d didn't have as it was standard apart from 19" alloys.

£24k a good price?

Also trying to work out best way to buy.

Don't have £24k sitting available, so HP vs PCP and paying the final payment? Both seem quite high at 10.8% APR.

£4k down now, £350ish a month with a final payment is more where I'm at right now.

I don't know if it's a good price, whatever guides say most BMWs seem to vary.
In my experience, discount at AUC will depend on rarity of car, other customers' being interested, their need to sell, possibly how long they've had it. Check when tax "expired" as a sign of when they may have had it traded in, if it's been around a while they'll probably want to move it on. It's not rare enough that you couldn't get something off, maybe a 2nd year warranty.

Spec seems decent, but what is variable sport steering?

I'm really not a finance person, but when my father bought a car last December no BMW finance package could touch the loan he got from Sainsbury's , so maybe it's easier to get a loan, buy car outright - negotiating discount /warranty - then pay off the loan.

But if you are getting into finance, what are the discounts available on a new car?
Is that worth considering?

Probably work out cheaper on the monthlies to have a personal loan ~3% apr over 4/5 years, buy the car outright and at the end of the term you own the car, no balloon. I did this a couple of years back on an AUC 435i it’s been a brilliant car, just traded in for an M4 though biggrin

Have you looked at new 435d BMW were doing these recently with big discount and 0% apr, might be worth a look also but for me the petrol is the one to have

I'll look into a loan but liked the idea of chunk up front and chunk at the end with smaller monthlies in between rather than straight loan if that makes sense.

I've had a 435d and I loved it but historically I've always had petrol straight 6 BMWs and I really want another one biggrin

Just looked at the cost of a new one on coast to coast and with those options a 440i would be about £39k (including discounts), so quite a chunk more than the 435i you are looking at.

Seems like a reasonable used deal to me.

if it's the car I think it is (albeit it's @ £24,950k) it's already been discounted and has potentially been on sale since 8 Sept.
Therefore, I think you'd be in for a deal smile
I never bought on finance, but I think that seems to attract more favorable terms in respect of discount.

Yeah that's the one. I put in a cheeky offer and had it rejected so still looking to see what else is available, perhaps in a better colour.

Could you look outside of AUC and IF for the same sort of price you could pick up a (ideally late) 2015 model you'd still have balance of Manufacturer's 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, so be in a similar position for warranty cover??

Scrap that, just took a call...

https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/201709119196238...

Mine for £22,250 - deposit paid.

I’m liking that spec a lot.

Black Friday 24m warranty deal too.

Hi

I'm looking at a 435i as one possibility next year but paying cash. Did they offer the discount gratuitously or was it as a result of your earlier offer?

I have an idea that they are not keen on cash sales and some would rather walk away from a sale than sell for cash.

I get the impression they're not an easy one to sell as not everyone values the noise and drive of a nice petrol engine over saving a pennies at the pump.

Not everyone is a PHer, which is a good thing for us.

I think they must have been affected by the diesel issue; that is less will be buying diesel so petrol becomes more popular until production can be ramped up.

I have a rather old 330ci at the moment but the 6cyl flat is a really good engine and, whenever I want the car to go, it goes and really smoothly.
