X3 and Tyres

I have a X3 2006 2.0D. I had 4 new Kumho tyres fitted approx. 2500km ago and up until now have had no problems. The car has now developed a wobble/shudder at anything over 30kph. At first I thought it was a prop bearing or something similar but my mechanic has looked at everything that could possibly cause this type of problem. Nothing found. He thinks it could be the new tyres. I have read some worrying posts on Bimmerfest and it seems that X3's do have problems with none standard star rated tyres (so some would say). Anyone here got any opinions, ideas as what to do.
