Hi All,

I'm currently trying to film a "tyre width" video, along the lines of this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPyg3ilw3KU

and I've concluded the F80/F82 is probably the best car for me.

I'm currently trying to work out what sizes I could fit. For example, I know on my e92 M3 I could fit (all in 19")

Front: 235/35, 245/35 and 255/35
Rear: 255/35, 275/35 and maybe a 295/30.

Obviously the super wide sizes would need wider aftermarket wheels, but I know they'll fit in the arches without fouling bodywork (well, the 255/35 rubs a little at full lock)

If anyone has any experience of the sizes available on the F8x range I'd really appreciate the input. It should be a super interesting test to see if going from a narrower to wider front and rear combination actually improves performance, or just ruins the balance of the car.

Thanks in advance.

After a bit of research on US forums I found the following:

Stock wheels - 9x19 (ET29) +10x19 (ET40), Style 437M
Stock tyres - 255/35 ZR19 (92Y) TL; and 275/35 ZR19 (100Y)
Stock winter setup is 255/35 square on the 9" wide wheel.

Tuners in america have fitted, on the stock wheels and suspension with no spacers or body modifications:

Front: 255/35, 265/35, 275/35
Rear: 255/35, 275/35, 285/30, 285/35, 295/30, 295/35, 305/30

I was going to post that they fit wider tyres in the US up to 305mm, the F10 M5 spec 295 MPSS on the rear is popular.

Not sure it maintains the handling balance though F80 very sensitive to tyres IMHO.

It's also subjective to your suspension set up and what tyre. The rears aren't really an issue I've ran both 295/30/20 and 305/30/20 with coilovers on an 11J wheel with ET40 offset. I'd settled on 295/30/20 Mich Pilot 4S on the rears for my 'show / summer wheel' but sold them now to be more track orientated . But you can really tuck them in there.

The front can be a little more tricky if not on stock suspension, I ended up with a 10J wheel running 275/30/20, I was going to go 275/35/20 but due to the ride height thought might case an issue and I think it would of possibly caught on the front arch line on more than 1/2 lock.

Also the MPS4 tyre has a much 'squarer' wall edge to say the MPSS which can effectively create a 2mm difference and if your talking margins depending on set up can cause issues.
