Not a 30 Jarah F10 M5.
Chug along in 7th then WOT that’s epic
Is It? You've no idea if it is, 7th is geared for 250mph it's not an epic gear at all. Chug along in 7th then WOT that’s epic
Good to see you're still on here talking crap.
Ps you have not driven a 30 Jarah have you?

Unless Steve Sutcliffe (yes the Autocar one who works for ahymarket who own Pistonheads) was telling porkie pies in his Autocar video for this car on YouTube where that is mentioned then I guess not.

Firstly, your comment regards M5 is irrelevant. We're not talking about M5s.Ps you have not driven a 30 Jarah have you?
Secondly, wtf are you on about anyway?

The above was responding to Wills post
Seriously what do you mean - the Fido initial post or the Wills retort and my follow up?

First, it is a 30 Jahre.Ps you have not driven a 30 Jarah have you?
Second, 7th gear is indeed geared for some silly 250+ mph top-speed - 2000 rpm equates to 80 mph. Therefore, putting your foot down in 7th is not "epic", just not possible, but it is of course an extremely powerful car with a very useful torque and power delivery.
Third, please go and drive an F10 M5, you obviously are fascinated by them, given the number of posts you make reference to them.

Fido (top of this page) mentioned the M2 and it’s styld of delivery
I mentioned the M2 because it's often the 'other' car that is compared to the E92 M3 - slightly lighter but quite similar in other ways. I'm sure a two-tonne M5 with monster torque is going to be effortless to drive but it's also going to be incredibly boring round twisty bits. Come to think of it the car I really wanted, or nearest thing to it, will be the M2 Competition - or that modified M2 which someone shoe-horned an S65 into.rassi said:

I don’t understand the m5 relevance either
Agree e92 m3 is a fine if tad indulgent daily as in its very competent but the fuel is a pain
It’s also a lovely GT really good for long road trips when I had mine I went from London to Inverness and then the north coast 500 and back to London in 5 days and was still enjoying the drive when got back

The S65 actually needs more revs in a heavier car, so the need to rev it hard is more noticeable.
I agree with that, and I thought the S54 was more peppy lower down in my Z4M than the S65 in the M3. The s65 is very tractable at low rpm and I really enjoy it around town on the nursery run. For me it misses out in the mid range 3000-5000rpm where the weight coupled with the long gearing can leave it lacking.
Best thing to do is to turn off traction control so the diff will lock, open the window a bit, then hammer it. Soon comes alive then.

Really sorry you haven't gelled with it, it's a real shame as yours is a very nice example too.
I love mine but I think that is helped a lot by two things:
1) Mine is a second car alongside a hatch that does all the mundane stuff in life meaning the M3 only gets used when I want to drive.
2) Mine is a DCT with a few upgrades meaning more power and more torque plus the servotronic update.
Whats the servotronc update all about?I love mine but I think that is helped a lot by two things:

Given there are comments about the lack of torque from people who have tested it and x owners who didn’t gel - is supercharging the S65 V8 unit a solution to this?
I dont think so its been done in the US but there are so many good turbos out there now oem why bother no2 if you want a 600bhp rwd car there are much easier routesI see why its loads of fun though

I have a supercharged E92 M3 with 600bhp.I see why its loads of fun though
It has totally different engine characteristics and sound to that of a turbocharged engine putting out the same power.
I wouldn’t swap mine for a remapped version of the current M3/M4, nor for a turbocharged M5.

Now this sounds very appealing & proper Petrol head It has totally different engine characteristics and sound to that of a turbocharged engine putting out the same power.

Anyvids or performance stats?

It’s definitely quick!Anyvids or performance stats?
It’s the ESS 625. There’s loads of vids on YouTube.
I like it because it totally retains the high-reviving character and sound of the amazing s65 V8. It still revs to 8,400rpm and the power is still mostly at the top end - there’s just a lot more of it. After 6,000rpm it goes mental...
Expensive but absolutely worth every penny.
It's a not a mod I can afford lol. Funny when I was trying to keep up with a c63 I was just thinking I could do with another 200hp not to mention the extra torque. The e92 has maybe 380hp stock from what I've seen and it's not slow even by current standards. God knows what 600hp is like.
Another week and I'm enjoying the m3 again. Bad commuting traffic but despite that I've had a fair few opportunities to grab the thing by the neck and abuse it (with some respect still...). Responds well to being driven hard. Its made me feel like it's a really special car again. Go figure. I may have to get a fiat panda 100hp for rainy days and winter to remind me it is genuinely good.
Can't wait for holiday to be over and I can have my exhaust mod done. Priorities....
Other update drivel.... I used some gliptone leather dye on my bolsters to get rid of some scuffs and totally ruined them a couple of months back. New dye is a different shade of black and shiny vs the old matte novo leather. Used some panel wipe today to remove the sheen and luckily they have come out spot on with the wear marks still gone. Some gliptone conditioner and the seats are looking like they have half the mileage and years on them.
See you soon for another update where I hate the m3 again.

A month after I first got the M3 i nearly traded it in for a 135i, but the salesman convinced me not to. Glad he did.
Stick with it and one day it will just click. It’s not perfect by any means but once you fully gel with it it will be fun.
