hoping to tap into the M knowledge here

am v tempted by an M3 which has the full BMW M Performance exhaust fitted (complete with invoice for £3800 fitted)

call me mad but I think its too noisy

can I swap it for standard? my confusion is i've read that the old exhaust is cut off and the new one is clamped on, as the M performance exhaust is not just the back box but the longer pipes up to (or beyond?) the pre cats

so its not clear to me if I source a standard exhaust will it fit?

i'd be happy to swap the whole thing with someone with a standard car, plus cash, if anyone is looking for a cheap way into one of these?

it has the titanium ends and has done 5k miles

cheers

M3cutters might be a good site; they seem to buy/sell these things

I’m with you on that one, I find the standard exhaust on my F80 M3 plenty loud enough.

I don’t think you will have any trouble finding a standard exhaust as always a few on eBay cheap. MPE seem to sell for £1600 upwards. The ones with the carbon tips fetch more.

Hope you enjoy the car.

As above, you’ll easily move your MPE on via somewhere like Cutters, if you want to.

Somone there will also know exactly what is needed to swap back to standard.

Yup it's just too damn loud.

I actually find the standard one on mine bordering on too noisy.

I think it's something for the 20-30's age bracket who like to attract attention and 'get noticed' etc.

It seems de rigueur to add a carbon fibre sleeve over the MPE exhaust tailpipes too for some reason.

The carbon fibre sleeve is how they come from BMW unless you opt for the titanium tips
