What's people opinions on private plates? Getting my front bumper repaired and resprayed and plate holes filled next week and was thinking I may get a new plate also . It's an E92 M3 so was looking at V8 plates.

Any thoughts ?

cheers

I liked mine but far too many people would say I saw you the other day etc...made the car stand out too much for my liking so sold it on.

But I do miss it.

I had one years ago too but I got rid for exactly the same reasons.

No right or wrong and don’t listen to anyone wink

If you want one get one, if you think you’ll look like a dick don’t get one.

I have one on my X5 and I’m comfortable, others aren’t and that’s fair enough.

Don't get me wrong a nice short plate looks good to me and I didn't like going back to the standard 7 character plate once I'd made the swap.

Did you not keep that famous plate you had, what was it, something like

PN15 OMG

Or is my memory failing me.

Again.

Ha! Yeah that plate was the reason I got 17ON it was PN15 NYU on the M5.

There’s no wrong or right answer, only what works for you...

I’m not a big plate watcher, or anything like that, but the opportunity to get a v12 and v10 plate for my cars was a bit of fun, and at £399 each, not too extortionate.

Gratuitous M6 pic.

The 760 has the v12 version - but I have zero pics with the plate on, as the day after I put the plate on, it went to the dealers, and has been there ever since! (but that’s a different story).

I used to like mine, now don't bother putting them on the cars.

I think too many illegally spaced plates have made me question what sort of person I must be to need to monogram my own car. It wasn't a good conclusion.

I had this on my E60 M5

Looking for a plate for my M3 but not found anything suitable yet at the right price.

I like private plates but not ones that are spaced illegally they are just so tacky.

On an E39 M5 I had the plate was M5 DBV. It came on the car when I bought it, but I liked it.

So if not too flashy and illegally spaced then ok in my book.

I like a car related plate myself. My E92 M3 had M3 YWN.
Bought for £250 used it for years and sold it for £250.
Misplaced letters are way to "try hard" for my tastes.
Got an M4 plate at the minute.

I think that's a really good plate on that car, for sale as well at the moment.

I just did a quick search for M3 DCT...

I was the under bidder on "E36 EVO" for my M3 EVO... Reserve was £300 and I thought I'd go up to £2K but i went to £2500 and still couldn't nail it..... it sold for £2540 + VAT Etc...So well over £3K... Which i think was enough in the end....

Yes I kept the plate on retention and have it for sale but not bothered whether I sell it or not as I may get another E60 M5 at some point.
