What is your budget if you don't mind sharing? Loads of nice ones for sale currently.
Budget depends on the car but tops out at £23k ish for a LCI with all the bits and low miles. Will look at pre LCI for less cash if miles are low and stretch a little higher for the dream car. I don’t think there’s much out there if you don’t want white, black or the lighter blue, but you do want EDC, low miles and super clean. Really want Silver, Silverstone blue or Grey my favourite with a full BMW history, don’t want black wheels but will compromise if the price is right to fund some Competition wheels and remember I’m after a cab. That narrows it down quite a bit.

Am I being realistic?

Like you say, the fact you are after a cab along with those set of requirements does narrow down the number of options somewhat. I'd say compromise on the EDC if you don't plan on tracking it. Along with a glass smooth road that's the only place you really need the hardest setting on the suspension.

I think if it were me, I'd compromise on LCI if it still had CIC iDrive (cars built from 09/2008).
I've never driven a cab, but would feel the option of a comfort setting (EDC) appeals more as I perceive it as a cruising around / road trip car rather than just shooting down b-roads?

Plus for when going slowly and the engine sound wasn't top of the aural agenda, an individual audio. they sound like you've got the band in with you wink
And even DAB.

Thanks both, I saw that Tamworth car online but wasn’t sold on the red interior. With my impatient self I may have stumbled on a gem however and left a refundable holding deposit on something this morning!

2010, 22k miles, BMW AUC, Heated Seats, folding mirrors, comfort access, and Estoril Interlagos blue on black, 2 owners for £24k. No pics online but got sent one of those salesman’s videos and it looks great.

On some of the other things you mention I want EDC not for hard setting on track but soft setting for cruising which is more what this buy is about. Have the 911 GTS Coupe for serious sporty moments.

Wish me luck with the viewing early next week!

Nice one, do you mean interlagos blue? I didn't think they did estoril on the E9X series. Unless an individual color, in which case bargain wink
Goof luck.

TBH compared to my previous car which happened to be a 911, the e92 is very soft in terms of suspension. Alot more comfortable to sit in (the BMW compared to the 911).

Met my new to me E93 M3 today for the first time. The car was unprepared and pretty much as described, slightly faded paint work, signs that it had been standing for a few months outside, a few paint and wheel scratches but looking very genuine given its recent history story (which is not appropriate to talk about here). The interior is as new and I doubt anyone has ever sat in the back of it (and if they did they were wearing slippers!). In fact not sure anyone had been in the front passenger seat either, and barely much in terms of signs of use on drivers side. BMW happy to repair the wheels and sort all of the paint out so next time I see it it should be mint.

Was a little worried about not liking Interlagos blue in the flesh, but it turns out that I love it.

Drove well but exhaust noise needs to be freed up a little biggrin which will be the first job after the AUC warranty is up in 12 months.

Can’t wait to pick it up and “get to know it” smile

Very happy and excited!

Great news! Sounds like a solid car.. look forward to the pics. The interiors seem to wear very well indeed, mine is in to 60k miles now and the interior barely looks like it's worn at all.

So right on the exhaust noise, it is way too quiet. I'm having my '2 pipe' mod done in September by http://www.exhaustmods.co.uk/e92-m3-exhaust-mod
Book now for next year, he get's booked up months in advance!!

Getting to know the car was one of the most enjoyable car experiences i've had, especially the first time you go full bore through the gears in M-mode, ESP off and DCT mode 6 will stay with me for a long time.. it is savage! cool

Agreed. Fantastic.

I've not used mine for about four weeks now (new company car) and I miss it. frown

Thanks both, looking forward to it. Funny story about that exhaust guy Paul that you sent the link for. I’d found his site and planned to use him, was telling my mate last week who also has a 911, only for him to tell me that he booked him in May to sort his exhaust out (similar to e92 mod) in September. I’m wondering if I take a risk with the warranty and see if he’ll do both our cars in September. But maybe I should be patient, get to know the car first and do the (2 pipe) mod next year?

No! More noise now! biggrin Besides, I'm pretty sure the exhaust mod would only invalidate the warranty that applies to the silencer specifically and no other part of the exhaust or car so I wouldn't worry about it smile

Well, I’ve gawn and dunnit!

Can’t wait to start repairing the damage after a BMW “valet” pre delivery eek

But nothing my DA polisher can’t sort.

It’s mint inside and will be outside and drives fantastic. God know how quick a coupe would feel in full angry mode, but after a short blast this is more than enough for what I’m looking forbiggrin:

Very nice and I love the colour thumbup The V8 sounds mint with the roof down, and I've always enjoyed driving my brother in laws with the roof down.

When he went out in my Coupe he thought it had a different engine under the bonnet...because it was so quiet in comparison to his! Enjoy it. driving

Although its nothing like an E93, the coupe is worlds apart with the windows up vs windows down.. the E93 is another universe with the roof down though.

I can't help but drive with the windows dropped a little now. We are so used to driving with the windows up and aircon on in modern cars.

I've never really been into Convertibles in fairness and my Z4M Roadster was a poor example(it was quiet roof up or down!), but I thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience of the E93 M3 for the noise.

I've also driven the M4 Convertible and I loved how much you could hear the exhaust with the roof down(not the greatest noise granted but you could hear it easily). Dropping the windows in Coupes does help I agree(I always had the windows dropped a little in my Cerbera).

Hope you like it.

Have you polished BMW paint before? Even my Flex VRG DA isnt powerful enough to cut quickly. I prefer rotary for BMW.

My Monte Carlo is in good condition and that generally needs 2 hits of M105 and 1 finish with P1 to get it 98% corrected (thats with an IPA wipedown ready for a ceramic sealant).
