I have a 2008 e90 m3 saloon and im looking into options/info on making the seats lower. I like to sit down low as possible which normally bmw’s are good at but not so with the e90. I’ve heard that the facelift cars have seats that go lower but cannot confirm this, not sure if anyone on here can who’s owned both maybe? it would be fairly easy to just buy some facelift seats or a new frame for mine perhaps. Or the other option maybe go for some recaro cs type seats, which im a bit unsure on due to it being a daily driver and i dont want to loose comfort or run into complicated fitting issues.

I suspect a manual seat frame from an everyday 3/4 may be the way.

As above, the M3 comes with fully electric seats as standard, which are noticeably higher than manual seats due to all the motors (and possibly gears) needed for the adjustment.

Not sure if you can just swap seat bases with a manual E90 seat, but there’s plenty of cheap E90 seats on eBay so it might be worth a try.

I’ve got an E91 335i with electric seats and have been thinking about doing the same. Easier in this case as I can just buy replacement seats. As far as I’m aware there was never a manual seat option for the M3 (in the UK anyway), so you’ll have to try and mix and match.

If you have a manual car, lower may not be good for left elbow clearance either with the centre console or the front seat passenger.

DCT not a problem obvs.

Have you considered the M-Performance seats?

They cost a few quid - but would definitely be a more "credible" modification than putting boggo M-Sport seats in a car that someone (you) paid the price for the privilege of electric seats...

You will ALWAYS get good money back from them if you ever decided to revert to OEM....

I thought they were long since NLA.
Quite possibly, but people who have them in cars know what they're worth, and so very infrequently sell their car with them fitted.

Accordingly they do come up on eBay (other auction sites are available) or forum classifieds from time to time...

It’s a logo’d stock Ricardo model. Chap on FB sells loads of them.

Best place to look for M Performance Seats is m3cutters For Sale Forum and some of the owners Facebook Groups. A few have come up for sale over the last few months.
