Just bought a spectacular Z4M R - as a first for me ! It is a cherished and immaculate example in showroom condition with 46K and FDSH. I want to keep it that way and will be SORNed for the Winter. Might be tempted to take it for a gentle warmup but will not be putting on miles as its a long term acquisition. In terms of maintaining the battery ( newly replaced via BMW) and a trickle charge - would you recommend I do this and have you any recommended kit ? Thanks.

I would say you could use one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FC42HAA/ref=asc_df_...

There are quite a few like this on the market, designed to be left fitted, and comes with a quick connect lead set so you can have the cables connected all the time for hard to reach battery's (like My M3 which is boot mounted and under a brittle plastic cover)

Other suppliers sell these as well if you dont like/use Amazon.

I’ve got the CTEK 5.0 for my Z4MR too (great purchase and get on the Z4 forum too!)

Mine is attached under the bonnet, and the cable can run around the air box, and out next to the light to allow bonnet to be closed etc.

I also tuck mine away for winter as only got 24k on it and retired it from daily use 2 years ago. Got a lovely soft specialised cover for it also, to keep the dust off.

Make sure you check the drainage isn’t blocked under the roof, the forum is full of how to guides, I use a trombone cleaning brush (or maybe trumpet, can’t recall)

Wellcome to the club -enjoy when the warmer weather finally arrives
I put my trickle charger on for about 4 hours at night to keep the battery nicely conditioned -using the designated posts in the engine bay

Lovely cars. Bought mine as a weekend car from the start. I still manage around 7k n it each year. Now on 67k nearly all enjoyed with me behind the wheel. Too much fun to not drive. Just keep it away from grit and damp. I'm still on he original battery. I only put it on charge if not driven for around 10 days. Then it is a one night charge and leave it again.
