Good Morning,

Hoping some of you will be able to share your M2 Competition experiences as I'm looking at pulling the trigger on one later in the year.

Hopefully test driving one next week and can't wait!

Anyone move to one from an older M car?

Cheers for any info!

Well, noting that I went from an E46 to the F87 LCI, I think you’ll like it.

The E46 felt special in a way that the 330ci I also own does not. But that is all about how it drove (and - to a lesser extent - looked) rather than the standard of the interior.

So, the driving experience is great. The driving modes could be irritating if you have the DCT. The interior is significantly better than full fat M cars of yore, without going to F83 levels of pimp-mobile.

On the latter point, I think the seats in the M2C look better than those in my car, to the point where I have been browsing eBay.

I’m not a fan of the wheels though.

Otherwise, it seems very well specced as standard, so have fun ticking as few additional boxes as possible on the Configurator and focus on making the Salesman earn his commission.

Cheers for that!

Think we'll do pretty much what we did with the 440i and get a pre reg / low miles one. Dealer we dealt with previously has a 151 mile one in Hockenheim Silver with the comfort pack and brake upgrade.

Going from a Z4MR which I've loved but its time to move on

I have a M2 Comp - manual - that I bought in December to replace a Z4M and M140i. I haven’t regretted it. Never gelled with the Z and the. M140 was a great appliance but not an M in terms of being an event to drive.

I ordered mine with 437M wheels which are far nicer than the standard ones. The only thing I think I don’t like is that 6th is too short (as the 140) but otherwise I’ve been enjoying it so much I’ve had to buy an old 530d Touring to attempt to keep hundreds of thousands of miles racking up on the M2C. Done 10000 already, and planning to keep it indefinitely unless the 911 itch becomes unbearable.

I certainly wouldn't swap a Z4m for an M2.
I got a manual M2 as a daily and never got on with it, and quite frankly hated it by the end of owning it.
Fortunately I ran it alongside my z4mc rather than replacing it.

I wouldn’t havre swapped my Z4M for a M2 either which is why I held out for the M2 C. I had no interest in the M2 and chose a M140 over it. The M2 C on the other hand is immeasurably better than the Z4M which had totally horrendous suspension and driving dynamics.

Interesting to hear other Z4M owners swapping over to the M2C and it being a bit mixed (dependent on your own experiences) result.

I'll be going DCT (Mrs will be driving it mostly) and haven't really missed a manual in the daily.

Cheers for the feedback though! smile

Had mine a month or so now - has the ris done last week so can open it up.
In reality, there’s too much power for our roads to really enjoy the upper rev ranges.

I like it, more than the F80 M3 we had, but it doesn’t wow me as I thought it might.
Reminds me quite a lot of my 996 turbo - capable and fast but not really ‘fun’.

Wife likes to use this as she wouldn’t drive my last cars (V6 Exige amongst others and latterly an Alfa 4C) so I may well end up having something else a bit more engaging and she’ll keep the M2.

Mine was also a pre reg - 102 miles, the two important (to me) packs plus several other options.
£13k less than list...

Swapped my E46 m3 for the M2 comp in December. I would say its the new E46 M3, great car really happy with it.

Try and get some carbon parts thrown in if buying from a dealer the carbon diffuser and splitter look epic.

Strewth, so packs aside you paid under 40k. That’s impressive!

Very impressive. Feeling somewhat foolish now for paying list in December when I could have paid £40k or less now. Makes me wonder how little mine must be worth, 6 months on.

It’s list price would have been about £58k on today’s prices (don’t know whether there’s been an increase this year) and I got it for £45k.

I had to go to Newcastle for it - my local dealer was trying to persuade me to order a new one as ‘you’ll be the first name on the V5...’

I’d rather save the money, thanks smile

Good buy all the same. Don’t mind too much being an early adopter though and it still feels special 10000 miles in.

Bargain, less than I paid for my M2 LCI. But that was 16 months ago but still. Well done! Great buy.

Borrowed one for the day last week. Dynamically it’s good - much much better than the M4 I had which seemed to want to swap ends at any moment.

I found it comfortable although stiff and it had good front turn in too.

However 🙄 i found it pretty quiet with the new opf and it never felt ballistic like the m4 did - just fast. Also the throttle response seemed much softer than the m4 in any driving mode.

It’s a very nice thing as a package but for me these new emissions and noise regs have seriously dented my enjoyment of such cars.

Good to hear your thoughts. I'm tempted to stretch myself and get one to replace my M135i which is going back in March next year. I love the ZF in mine but to be honest, for the type of driving I do and the mileage, I'm not bothered if it's the DCT or manual in the M2 comp. Manual was never an option on the M lite for me.

530d isn't exactly a bad car to use to keep the miles off either.

Having had the ribs done and able to use all the revs, on the country lanes where I live the M2 is streets ahead of the M3 in the confidence stakes.
My old M3 wanted to chuck you in the nearest hedge - it was a horrible drive.
The M2 also feels equally as fast to me.

I agree about the noise though - really has spoilt part of the enjoyment.
I’ll shortly be getting a Milltek system for mine to hopefully make it sound at least a little better.

Hopefully as these opf things are new the Aftermarket boys will solve the issue. You can throw it about though like you say in a way you never could in the m4 without having a squeaky bum moment.

Just in the process of buying one myself. I collect it Wednesday. About 18% off one with 120 miles on the clock that's just a month old. It's a price I was happy with and looking at the AUC site they vary wildly. Just the spec I wanted and local too, so all good. Looking forward to taking it to FOS with my boy next weekend.

How do some of these cars end up several months old with just 100 miles on them?

Mine had 102 on the clock since last December, but still had the protective covering on the sills and seat badges...
