Would you guys ever consider a 1 or 2 year old X5M over a new X3/4M ? Surely this will be cheaper and an equally fast / decent car ?

£80K ? Now that 95% of car buyers pay monthly / HP is the sale price ..... out of date / pointless ? I tip my hat if you can all afford to spend £80K on a car but Im assuming these will be on rental ? Therefore Im thinking that cost prices can now be as high as they want as it boils down to monthly figures / deals / 3 year values.

Have you all noticed the amazing deals on stock UK cars?

I collect one in 10 days and managed a satisfying £22k discount and 2.9% APR smile

If you can find a stock car with no options there is a genuine £549 deposit and £549 per month PCP deal to be had.

Had a phone call about X3M stock this evening, £18k off without any conversation/haggle and he mentioned further contribution from BMW if you take the PCP finance... whether you intend to run with it or pay it off shortly afterwards.

Not really what I’m after otherwise I’d have been tempted to drop the M2C and jump into one of those instead, however I am going to float the idea to my folks in case they want to switch from her F80 because it seems like a brilliant deal.

How did your numbers fair against the £549 deal? Any better?

Interesting thoughts..... I had an X3M on loan for 48 hours as considering as a run around for my wife and my conclusions were quite different.
I thought the ride quality on 21’s was truly shocking. So much firmer than my M5 Comp and totally out of kilter for what is required in this type of car and it just would not settle on anything other than billiard smooth roads. A complete disaster. Also as a comparison my X5M is much much more comfortable and feels considerably quicker with the V8 torque.
The engine sounds ok but is really struggling with a lack of torque- needing to work the paddles hard to keep it above 4K. This will probably be fine in an M3/M4 but a shortfall in type of vehicle. The car felt very sluggish in normal driving. The current M4 would destroy this in a straight line above 30 mph in all but the worst of weather.
I agree the interior is a let down. No way does it feel £80k. If anything, it illustrates how good the X3M40 is. I’d be amazed if anybody bought one of these after a test drive. IMO the worst M car to date, ever....
Pretty much what Joe Achilles found, especially the very hard ride: https://youtu.be/p7ryuGMGcg4
Where is Wills2 as he found the X3M’s ride not much different to his air suspended 7 series when I said the ride was totally unacceptable.
Also the tyre noise in the cabin was deafening on poorly surfaced roads and with the 2 together It was a definite no from me irrespective of good the engine was, and it was good if lacking a bit in low down torque!

Mine was 25-27 for the first 700 miles on a and b roads. For comparison on the same commute my m4 comp was doing 28-30.

But it went into limp mode last week - drivetrain issue- causing reduced power after which it was drinking like a fish - 17mpg - on the same roads.

No reasons for the fault yet - it is going in later this week.

It showed up on the HUD and main screen as driveline fault and said reduced power, roadside assistance not required you can continue driving and contact dealer - or something like that. It throws the same message every start up and after about 500 m.

Power is well down. It will still rev but feels like the turbos aren't spinning and that there is only about 150bhp. I suspect a wastegate or other turbo problem.

My deal was epic, but I know others (Bimmerpost) achieved better.

Total discount was just shy of £22k with 2.9% APR.

I had £7k negative equity so it slews my deal, but basically I'm paying the same as I was for my 440i. Overall if you removed the negative by deal works out as £530 per month with £2,700 of extras and a £2k deposit.

Do you have pan roof? I heard pn roof is like half size of that of x3m?

The pan roof is about half size of the x3 due to the curve of the roof.

Mine has a significant turbo fault. 600 miles only. In the dealers now until parts turn up. Not happy.

What've they given you in the interim?

Ive had an absolute shocker with BMW recently. Collected our M40i on the 8th Nov, it broke down twice within two weeks. We've been driving a Hyundai Tucson rental car pretty much since then. I phone and email them daily. Utterly shocking experience. No accountability. No apology. Tempted to go elsewhere and just call a day to the whole saga

Easy solution in your case, you can reject the car within 30 days of purchase as it has a fault, and the days they have had to fix the car can be adding to the 30 days, this stops garages hanging on to the car just to get past the 30 days.

That sounds like appalling customer service; bad enough that a brand new and relatively expensive car breaks down twice in two weeks but to then fob you off with a much cheaper car as a temporary replacement just rubs salt in the wound! I can therefore understand the temptation to tell them to shove it and go elsewhere but if you've bought on the back of the current excellent deals on X3's you may struggle to get anything comparable for similar money....

First car Blues, I understand a ECU recall is on the way too.
