i am talking about a £1k discount on a car where its been sitting for months. Perhaps i am asking for too much in the current climate but given there are 102 M2's in the dealer network with about 90+ of them being M2 comps'...then privates on top of that.

amazed there hasnt started to be a trickle of movement..or is that to come?

If your experience is anything like mine recently, it's proved difficult to even engage in any real dialogue with a sales person with any discretion to negotiate or apparent appetite to. I've had unreturned calls and the most perfunctory info including a 'personalised video' presentation, that amounted to little more than opening the car and folding the mirrors, passed off as service. Followed up by a pushy 'are you still interested or shall I close the enquiry?' email.

Really don't get this 'doing you a favour' attitude toward potential buyers. Guys, there are other dealers, other marques, and I am quite happy to retain my cash and focus instead on fixing up my old Tiv. In fact...

Frustrating indeed when that happens. For balance, I had a brilliant experience buying my AUC M2 from Barons BMW. Called them, created rapport and told them my target price minus £1,000. They countered at £500 over my offer so paid £500 less than target.
Took 15mn and picked up 2 days later after inspecting the car that was near perfect, as you'd expext at 6k miles.

I wouldn’t go that far...
But, definitely a car that looks better in the metal than in pictures.

I have been looking for a couple of months for an M2 comp and found the situation to be very similar to many of you by where I’d call a dealership and they would have zero interest in selling the car, in the last month I made 5 enquires, first one emailed straight back asking me to put down a deposit, to which wasn’t going to happen until they had answered a few queries I had never mind the doing some kind of deal part. He then didn’t return my calls or emails.

Had another Give me a part ex price for my old M235, but wouldn’t put it in writing and 2 others that wouldn’t even return my calls full stop.

Then last Friday a car came up on bmw approved I dropped an enquiry that night and my calls and emails were promptly returned Saturday all day and a deal was done! I actually couldn’t believe it after all the hassle it has been trying to deal with other dealers.

Keep looking they are out there, some of the stock that has been sat there a while will come down at somepoint but I think you’ll have to wait until they drop the prices judging my my experience. Quite a few cars coming up in the high 30s now which is where I’d been waiting for them to fall to.

My M2 Competition story. If it’s verbose , forgive me , I’m in a queue for supermarket ; so it kills time wink

Around a year ago I saw a nice M4 Comp.
And duly contacted the BMW dealership. Local ish. Went for the honest approach , said I’ve not driven any F generation M cars. And I’ve Also got a drive of a M2 (OG) arranged. Maybe if I went for a new car , the M2 Comp.
Sales guy was cool. Come and give it a drive. See what you think. smile

It sold, in in interim.

No problem, he says, I’ve booked the demo for you. If you like , I can get you one to your spec. Or we look at other M cars.

Decent drive , but not convinced.

Again , no problem he says. We don’t have any OG M2s, but my manager is driving a M2 Comp. Let’s get you in that. If you want new , even though I’m used sales , if a new enquiry arises from a used enquiry I can deal with it to completion.

His Manager (Used Car Sales) overruled!!

No way is he driving “my car” (it’s a demo ) if he’s trying a M2 from *another* dealership.

I was relayed this conversation by the salesman

Salesman was embarrassed. Tried to get me to look at other Ms within their group , but I walked.

What they didn’t know is that I have a connection with the New Car Sales team. wink

So after trying a OG M2 , another (manual) OG M2 (back to back with a DCT M2 Comp). , I arranged to borrow ,for the day , the Used Car Sales manager’s M2 Competition.

And I made sure I pushed it to its absolute limits over a wet and muddy Brecon Beacons. And that later word got back that I thoroughly enjoyed “your car”. The one you tried to stop me driving.

The other dealerships were shocked at the arrogant attitude.

so in a nutshell plenty cars but zero interest from dealers to try and sell them!

I’ve been trying to buy a new van since February.
Dealers just don’t seem to be arsed.
Getting really frustrated that it’s taking so long.

Eventually got a text last Tuesday from a salesman (well woman actually) - asked them to call me as it’d be easier over the phone - last text from her on Tuesday afternoon was that she was with a customer(?) and will call me when she’s finished.
She must be still with them...

Interestingly I've just received a call from my local BMW dealer who was following up my pre-lockdown inquiry. They were very forthcoming with an initial discount and apr.

Ah you see, that’s the ‘only’ colour a Comp should be.
Exclusive M colour, you see.... biggrin

Don’t think they’re really necessary, unless you like a lot more weight.
They look better than the standard items though.

I've had my eye on this for a while. It's been reduced to its current price point in the last week or so.

I’ve come across this thread by accident, currently hunting down a C7 C06 for track work..

Someone comparing the Cayman & the M2C and saying ‘bang for buck’ goes to M2, is the standard C7 corvette not comparable to the M2c?

Ive not even considered an M2c or cayman personally, how good are they tuned compared to a C7 Z06? Can you get them to the 5-600hp region?

Loads of comparison between the GT3 RS and the Z06, with the Z06 being a 1/2 price equal.

Not trolling, i had an M5 e39 for a while when new but not had an M car since..

The C07 is an interesting option, but I think by virtue of being quite large and LHD only would allow many to discount it as too different to a Cayman or M2 which are quite compact multipurpose sports cars that have a known support network (not to say the C07 doesn't but I couldn't tell you where the local Vette dealer is...)

The M2C engine is reported to take a simple remap to ~520hp and should be good for 600+ if you invest in turbo's and uprated breathing/exhaust options, although I think that would make it a handful to be honest.

I like and have looked at Vettes, also at Dodges too for something really out there. I have even fallen for an Ultima on the journey and still really fancy that (spectacular car)... however, in sensible world (with a turbo Chimaera awaiting a chassis refurb), the M2C does tick a load of boxes.

What's an achievable discount to aim for on a new in-stock car do you think? 8% looks do-able all day long; I suspect there's more in it than that when push comes to shove - assuming you can get to talk to sales!
