Crikey; I thought my Chimaera was a pretty effective tw@t magnet at times, with spannied-up and fandangoed shopping cars always trying to goad a sprint from the lights. But, after 700 miles in the M2C and my first evening journey into the nearest market town this evening, it's clear M cars are pretty 'attractive' too. Three blatant 'race me' exhortations in 5 minutes... a loud and obviously cammy Fiesta, a hissing and popping late MR2, and a sharp looking RS3 with a very young driver (err, how?) All desperate to mix it...

And all that could be heard in town this evening was a cacophony of loud exhausts and obviously mapped in burbles... I must be getting old! nono

It's sad isn't it, drive me nuts. The worst thing is I find other bmw drivers are the worst for this, I don't know what point the mugs in bmw diesels are trying to prove when they constantly want to race? I may ask them one day...

I'm finding my F80 mostly passing unnoticed despite being in Yas Marina blue

My old C63 W204 in Palladium (a much more subtle car and colour) attracted more attention

I think the 'Innit blud' are more into AMG and RS these days

Plus the C63 was much louder

M2 makes quite a racket tbf

'Twas ever thus. We're just getting older and now we're on the receiving end.

I've personally always wanted to try the 'Marty McFly' approach.... laugh

It does seem to have got much worse since March though!

A couple of weeks ago a couple of lads in a 19 plate Golf GTi thought they would beat my Z4M from a set of lights, but didn't. The Tesla driver behind us gave me a thumbsup at the next roundabout. laugh

Even my boring looking Sparkling Graphite E90 330i is getting challenged! Last one was a MK3 MR2 with a turbo that couldn't beat it from a set of lights, so I just backed off when he went for a daft overtake on a single carriageway.

I've never had so much attention since the 80s when I had a MK2 RS2000 and Capri 2.8 Injections!

Surprised on the turbo’d mr2. I had an SP240 and it was downright scary and rapid off the line to the point of neck pain. Still not a car you want to play raceys with as it’s mid engined and has no stability or traction control!

I never see m sports booting it up here. But in the north east every bmw seems to have an m badge so it’s hard to know which are real.

Surely if you are “accepting” the challenge you’re as guilty as them smile

I've always been very impressed with the MR2 turbo. I always remember having a go against a mk2 MR2 turbo in my tuned s14a 200SX at the traffic light grand prix. The MR2 was the only thing that ever got away quicker off the lights over the 4 years that I had it. thumbup

I had a car the other day come flying up behind me really close trying to push me in the 370Z, I was a bit gutted because my engine was still cold...otherwise I'm usually always up for some fun! drivingbiggrin

The MR2 should have lunched you tbf especially off the line!

I never really get the whole fly-by thing at the end or overtake at all costs bit when you've clearly back off? Can anyone explain?

Fist pump from transit driver?

I pulled onto a big main carriageway the other day, road a little bit damp, heading uphill, 200 metres view both ways. Might have got a bit sideways joining from side road, possibly continued into second gear. White transit van (the sort without blue lights on top thank god) came over brow of hill, some way off but very visible, the driver seemed most pleased, with a big grin and some joyful fist pumping! I need to grow up. M2 comp. not helping.

Christ, cringeworthy, wait until you try it against something moderately quick and get your arse handed to you on a plate.

Are there many moderately quick cars that can hit 100 mph in 7 seconds?

People never used to bother when I had my F80CP. Used to get plenty of positive comments, though.
