Just been looking on Autotrader and they really have jumped up..! I'm looking at a Silver 55 reg Coupe Manual done 67K FSH and it looks well priced at £21995 now....!
This always seems to happen, especially with the cars that have expensive faults or expensive maintenance requirements. All the cheap ones get broken or turned into track cars. The low mileage garage queens start to appreciate in value.
People’s perceptions also change. 20 years ago many would have said the E46 M3 wasn’t special enough to be a weekend car. As modern cars have become more and more numb, that perception has changed.
I was reading an early 90s car magazine at the weekend. It had an article comparing the E34 M5 and a Ferrari Testarossa. The conclusion was that the M5 would be as fast in real world conditions, but felt numb and was too easy to drive fast. Put that E34 up against a M135i and people will be waxing lyrical about the superb feedback and nimble handling of the M5.
As someone said earlier, it’s the E9X generation that are now being broken and/or turned into track cars.
random question. I have the professional nav set up in mine and I have some dead pixels.
Thinking about down grading to a business cd a la CSL.
Is professional nav still desirable or will it devalue the car slightly, even though the system really feels old, st and nav is unusable...
I already have a bluetooth adapter to integrate my phone into it (music)

I thought that not putting miles on a car wasn’t ideal- seals dry etc. So while 20k miles seems appealing I’d personally be a little worried - also I’d be anal about whether to drive it or not.
Quite looking forward to mine ticking over to 70k, so I’ll be less ‘worried’ about it being low mileage. Sad, isn’t it!

What are some of the rarer colours? Most seem to be silver, silver grey, black or dark blue. An e46 in a nice colour still stands out!
Laguna Seca BlueImola Red
Dakar Yellow
Rare and make the car really pop out in the sea of dross that are today’s car colours...
There was a deep metallic green that was gorgeous too.
