Hi guys.

I'm about to buy an M2 competition. I wile lowering it and want to fit an exhaust but need some help.

Where on earth do I find out what best exhaust to buy and from where and what best lowering options are out there and from where?

I've never done any aftermarket modding so am struggling to find the correct places to enquire or shop at.

Recommendations and help would be appreciated.

I would have to ask how do you know that you won't like the car as it is ?
For me to modify a car there would need to be areas that I didn't like about the way it drove.
I have an M2c and it is a great car straight out of the box .

I’ve put Eibach springs on myne and 5mm spacers. I’ve never modified a car before either.....

This week I had a Scorpion cat back exhaust fitted and it’s made the car. Before I was 50-50 on whether I’d keep it but now it’s brilliant, far too quiet as standard.

Ps I’m not worried about the warranty before anyone mentions it as the reason I bought the car was I was fed up of big Porsche and Ferrari bills so this was a cheaper, happy medium

Far better to join one of the FB groups - myriad of info on there.

For what it’s worth though, most who have just put springs (Eibach etc) on with the stock dampers have generally taken them off fairly quickly.
Also many reports of the dampers being knackered after only a few K miles with these springs fitted.

As for exhausts - I have an equal length Milltek on mine and really like it.

Speak to Evolve they are a nice modded M2

I'd have to agree. I was all up for spacers and springs etc, but once I got it it was clear it didn't need any of that.

I would agree with the noise and the equal length Miltek that Capt. Howdy mentioned would be my choice - any videos btw? My only reluctance with an after market exhaust is that you have to cut the original one to fit it.

I've stood behind a N55 M2 with a M Performance exhaust and with the flaps open and only moderate revs you are screaming at the top of your voice to be heard over it. Far too noisy.

The PCW exhaust mod (https://www.exhaustmods.co.uk/) where they take the exhaust off the car, fiddle with it from the top so you can't see any mods then put it back is popular. Cheap as well - c.£400 from memory. https://www.instagram.com/p/CI-xwnDFUEd/

Forget both.
Go on a driving course and learn how to drive properly.
Nothing wrong with the ride high or exhaust on a standard car.

For springs, Eibach or H&R tend to be the most popular and can be had for about £200 new online from many places.
I have eibach springs on mine, i had no issues with the stock ride, but it did sit high.
Eibach springs and 10mm spacers had it sitting perfectly.

Ride on the springs is unchanged, there are some situations where it is probably more comfortable / less bouncy, but do have to careful coming off of bigger speed bumps too quickly as it can nose dive in to the ground. But i still clear 99% of speed bumps without issue. I will say the first 2-3 days of having springs on i hated it, but it settled and changed alot in that time.
MSS and KW do height adjustable springs, but for the cost of them i would be inclined to spend the extra and get a decent set of coilovers.

No longer running spacers as have stepped up to a 255 front 275 rear tyre sizing. I was never a fan of the stretched look, and by not running stretched tyres the ride has improved but cant run spacers as it would rub, so not sitting quite as flush but looks more purposeful if anything.

For exhaust, there are plenty of options.
The car is far too quiet stock and i found it made it less enjoyable when normal driving.
I have gone for an Active autowerke mid-pipe. With valves closed it sounds like stock, with valves open it is marginally louder than an early m4 but it might not be for everyone. The mid pipe options remove OPF and this means you will need a map, im running a Bootmod3 stage 1 which is supposedly 500-520 BHP.

Plenty of backbox options available, but most retain OPF which is the biggest cause of the muffled sound. But the benefit is you get rid of the unsightly backbox. Alot of people choose to paint the stock back box.

Being just a bit lower, a bit louder and a bit (alot) quicker, has woken the whole car up and i think i will be owning it for quite some time.

I'm massively on the fence with mine and if I want to put an exhaust on it or not. I love the way it drives now and how quiet it is with 520bhp/700nm with its standard exhaust, it's really different to my previous V8 M3 with primary cats removed and 2 pipe modded rear box. If I do eventually decide to do anything to the exhaust it'll be decat front pipes and a full cat back OPF removal Milltek and a map adjustment to suit (which also takes it to 560bhp)...

I've had a 2016 m2 since feb 2020.
Its fitted with the M performance exhaust from bmw.
It sounds excellent, just press the Bluetooth fob to activate it.
Very loud ,pops and bangs etc in sports + with it activated but only slightly louder in comfort or sports mode.
I was told £2500 + without fitting.
If you are still looking in a few months when I sell we might be able to sort out a deal and swap mine for yours if they fit.

I’d keep the torque at 600Nm same as the M4 GTS. The crank hub failures seem to be predominantly on remapped cars which exceed 600Nm.

I run DS1. 11 in the blue caliper and really happy with them both on track and on the road. Very little noise which surprised me. £170 and super easy to fit too.

Are they quiet enough for road use? I hadn't realised, so yes I'd up the 2500 to the 1.11's as well.

Do you run them on both axles?
