So I just bought an M2 Comp
Discussion
It’s arriving later today, sapphire black.
Rather excited as haven’t had a car for 6 weeks (never happened in my 28 yrs of driving!).....first world problems and all that.
So, before I share my first impressions, any must know things to be aware of / ensure I turn on / off or hidden functionality in idrive?
Yours sincerely
Paul

The beauty of this car is there is only a small range of stuff the muck about with before you can settle into the business of making progress.
Have a play round with the different steering and powertrain settings, then set your favourites to the M buttons and off you go. I have Sport steering and Sport powertrain for M1 and Sport steering and Sport+ powertrain for M2. MDM seems a bit unnecessary for my taste as it builds pace so quickly that some help to get it on the pavement feels wise.
On this theme, I know journalists moan about modes like crazy, but in the real world having a normal mode where you can cruise quietly and not worry about being spat off a cold wet road is really quite nice. The car defaults to this, or at least mine does, and i'm thankful of this.
Enjoy your new car!

Try and get through the first 1200 miles as quickly as you can so you can enjoy it properly
Try pivoting the seat back a lot (rather than simply reclining it) to get a comfy driving position (the lever on the front right of the seat).
The electronic lumber support is on a button right at the front side of the seat and is easy to miss if you don't know it's there.
If it's DCT rather than manual, it has a clutch so don't ride it on a hill like you would an automatic, use your brakes. You also have to tap the accelerator to enter into crawl mode (to start it creeping like a regular auto). If you don't before setting off, you run the risk of kangeroo'ing down the road.
Figure on the DCT taking five minutes to switch from reverse to drive and vice versa when you do a three point turn. 10 if another car is approaching.
Realise that there is no such thing as a three point turn in a M2, only a 5 point, usually 7 point turn, the turning circle is that bad.
Sport+ engine mode is mapped to give you far more throttle than you use peddle, right at the beginning of the peddle movement. Presumably this is helpful for when you bang up the gears. It is not helpful if you come off the brake into a corner then go to feather the throttle to settle the car and it gives you the equivalent of half a boot load. You have to adapt to this and drive round it, especially if it's wet. Sport mode gets rid of this quirk, but then I find the throttle is otherwise too docile for making progress on windy roads.
As above, T/C stays on for me regardless of how I'm driving - I'd rather be quick on the tarmac than sideways off it, but then I'm not a hero. I've heard that MDM is great fun for slow speed dicking about though.
It's ability to pick up speed out of a corner still amazes me, the diff really is something special. On a narrow country road, get used to the sensation of levitating as it picks up.
Just enjoy it and believe the hype.

The ASD module is attached to the amp in the boot (left hand corner). If you have a bypass cable you unplug ASD and plug the ASD cable in its place. It takes about 15 minutes to remove the clips and trim in the boot and you can reverse if you change your mind. As the OP says coding can achieve the same result but I preferred not to code just in case I have a warranty claim in the future and the dealer detects a recode.
www.technicpnp.com. When I ordered mine they said it could take up to 3 months to arrive (as it is shipped via the US Postal Service), however mine arrived in about 3 weeks.

Oh and reverse dipping pax window mirror. If you want it on, leave the mirror adjuster switch to the left, if you don't leave it to the right. It may be the other way around, but you get the idea.
I can't seem to get mine to to this - will play again when the weather warms up.....[/quote]
This and the kangarooing much improved by CS transmission flash.

Mine seems to be fitted with the '1982 worn out Toyota Hilux steering feel option'.
Anyone know of a fix for this? Litchfield geo improved it slightly but my god, the steering is truly appalling in this car.
Hope you’re enjoying the M2C, OP. I’ll just add my little tip in to the mix.
