It’s massive.
I reckon it's the size of the car it's based ON, unsurprisingly. Cars are getting bigger but that has also been opening up smaller M car offerings like the 1M and M2, which are the size of fairly recent M3s like the E46, while M3/M4 are the size of fairly recent M5s.

I cannot see this living up to the name, I hope I'm wrong!
Markus Flasch (Ex chief of BMW-M) suggested at least a 100kg weight saving over the standard M4, which weighs 1725kg, so it will weigh around 1625kg, which is still pretty portly! Although about the same as my old E92 M3. The lowest figure I've seen on the internet is 1435kg, which feels ridiculously low for obvious reasons. I mean if you made a near 300kg weight-saving, why would you suggest around 100kg saving?

As you say it's ridiculous - I read on the internet Hitler was alive and well in South America. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I don't, hence why I said "it feels ridiculously low". The Markus Flasch interview is likely to be far more on the money as a) he was the boss of BMW M at the time (although he was just about to leave to become the head of Rolls Royce) and b) 100kg is the kind of weight loss you could expect from use of lightweight materials, less sound deadening and no rear seats - which are all things that it looks like BMW are going to do with this car.

Given how much bigger/stiffer the M4 is, that would be really impressive.

...and still lighter than an 90's era e34 M5.

Good point! I think a 100kg weight loss is pretty good and the implication is at least 100kg...

Have you chaps seen this?

I think that's the M4CSL at 38s on the video - looks like it has the ducktail spoiler and ceramic brakes.

yes

Autocar weighed the G82 RWD M4 at 1800kg.

I fear their is nothing L about this CSL. It’s a CS at best.

yes Tbf the E46 stretched the moniker too, didn't exactly go out and win the European Touring Car Championship back-to-back multiple times like the proper CSLs.

A race car being lighter than a road car? What a shocker.

Doesn’t seem that likely to me.

I have seen 1 x M3 and 1 x M4 on the road. So they are not selling well. Also, completely silent due to PF etc.

All theses things mean this new CSL will lack character. Suppose thats progress!
