AS above. Any and all ideas welcome. It still has the tyres it had when I bought it 4 years ago. They are Goodyears. Thanks. LFB

Over the years I've used Michelins and Goodyears on mine. The tyre that I have been happiest with is the Michelin PS4S. When the Goodyears currently on the front of mine are past it they'll be replaced with another pair of Michelins.

Thanks, The Goodyears on there now have been fine but they're ancient and all 4 need replacing. I notice there is now a PS5 from Michelin which I think is recently released. can't imagine there is a big difference between 4 and 5

Running PS4s on mine, very happy with them, but then I don’t drive it that hard, only cooked the brakes a few times!

Super Sports on mine. V good in all weathers. Had PS2s before and wanted a more aggressive tire than the newer PS4. I had P-Zero Rossos on my B10 - I wouldn’t recommend them.

Michelin make 2 different pilot sport 4 tyres, the PS4 and the PS4S.
The PS4S is the more sport orientated tyre and has not yet been replaced.

I believe the PS5 replaces the PS4.

If your going Michelin, personally i think the PS4S is the more suitable tyre for your M5.

Depends what you like as a drive. If you want to smear you E39 M5 all over the road like butter then something progressive but without ultimate grip will be more fun. You can’t go wrong with a Michelin, currently I have super sports on mine and have had 4 and 4S on other cars and they are cracking. Conti sport contact 6 also a good tyre. Personally I think there is a lot to be said about 4S on the front and the hardest of the hard cheapo on the rear wink
