My Mum has an E46 BMW 318ti Sport Individual manual in velvet purple with black alcantara interior with some body colour interior details (all as left the factory). It's quite an unusual car, perhaps the only one in this combination left or even built. She's had it for years and bought it from her best friend. She has decided to get something new and asked me if it was worth anything and how to sell it. It strikes me as something the right enthusiast might get excited about but I'm not sure if it would be viewed as something special or just an old car. Also, is there a good place to advertise a car like this?

It sounds like a great example, so may be quite desirable to the right person.

I found this link where it might be appreciated:- https://www.facebook.com/groups/221030174761065/
but I've never used FB so don't know how active it is.

318tis are getting fairly rare now, not least because quite a few get stripped and caged for the Compact Cup race series!

Had both an e36 318ti and an e46 325ti - great cars and certainly have a following.

Get some pics up.

Thanks. It’s not mint but it wouldn’t take a lot of work to tidy up. I’ll see it over Christmas so will take a closer look and some pictures.

Definitely becoming interesting and or rising in value.

In case anyone is interested this car is due to go under the hammer next week at Brightwells Classic Auction on 25th Match. I got it wrong, it’s a 316ti rather than 318ti.

It is more purple than the photos suggest.

The £3000-4000 estimate may be a touch optimistic.

The mileage isn't silly low, it's a 316ti and it needs some bodywork.

I could be wrong though!

Yes, it’s a solid car. They’re only selling due to lack of use. While this one was my Mum’s my dad has a collection of cars and maintains most of them himself with a little help. Mechanically it is very good, he believes in annual oil changes however few the miles. Unlike me though he’s not a stickler for how a car looks so most of his cars look rather unloved on the outside but are otherwise very we’ll maintained.

I’m as interested in what it goes for as anyone. The auction were actually quite excited. Most of all though I hope it goes to someone who gives it some love.

They are a nice drive although the 318Ti (a 2.0) goes much better.

To me they drive like a BMW should. Last year I had a 10 mile drive of one of those ghastly new FWD ones and it was like a Kia. Or an Astra. Or something.
