Aye, but after 7 years, you really would hope to see an Insp2 carried out, even if the total mileage doesn't require it done.

Service history on that doesn't look right - I never got anywhere the 15k stated between services and that one did 19k in 3 years. Max period is 2 years (assuming brake service is just a fluid change).

But someone isn't too bothered about it as its sold.

Sod the 3 year bit, it went nearly 4 years without a service between 24 Jan 2007 and 1 Nov 2010. I know it only did 8k miles in that time, but 4 years without a service. I'm guessing the owner did an oil change in between, but you would have thought that would have been highlighted in the ad.

Out of interest, does anyone know why this one is so cheap?

That's an attractive price . are prices softening with competition from 1M, Cayman R, E92's?

Good point. I especially think the E92 would be more attractive to some as it's a current model M3 (important to many) for similar money as a CSL.

Disagree re: E92vCSL....different market imo.

Both great cars but for different reasons....hence there are a few owners out there with both.

& when people are forced to a single car solution, the E92 seems to win out - newer, more comfortable and great fun to drive in the real world.

So you think the Cayman R & the 1M are reasonable alternatives? IMO the Cayman R is a modern day CSL.

Spot on, i've tried the E92 & really wanted to like it, but just kept thinking "It's no CSL". And thats the problem, I want the feel, noise, the razor sharp throttle of the CSL, so GT3?
But the CSL's 4 proper seats, huge boot & ease of use day to day means I'm stuck with it. I think I'll cope. wink

Not sure about this either mate tbh. Plenty of the guys I know who run a CSL, run it as their only performance car. They might have a shopping hatch or 4x4 in addition. For me, it's my only car. I'd argue all could afford an E92 as an alternative but choose not to (in fact, some have gone E92 and either come back to csl or regretted). Some have gone E92 and believe it to be a better car in specific circumstances (road) which I agree with. Track and having a special feel to it, CSL. So intended use and frequency is the driver. Would I have an E92 ? Sure if my requirements change. Was it either an E92 or CSL when considering what to buy ? Never.

Unfortunately there is not CSL replacement as a great track car but with decent road performance. E92 and 1M are slower on track ith out doubt therefore if you want to keep on tracking a car, You end up getting slower and with less fun.

Both great cars and as an everyday driver certainly better to drive, but if you have both I'd stil end up walking last them both to get to the CSL any day that you can drive with the windows open!

Why do glasses guide give such awful valuations on limited run cars like the CSL and Z3M Coupe?

Because their data only works properly with mass market cars.

Worth checking insurance values as well

When I bought mine I insured it through admiral who use a guide such as glasses to estimate values rather than ask, They'd valued mine at £14k by just basing it on a standard M3's value
