Does anyone know if turbo / supercharger kits are still available for a 1.8 mk1 anywhere in the UK? I've had no luck at all searching around for UK suppliers, and importing one seems like it would cost a lot more.

Also, has anyone changed their camshafts to something like these Piper cams? I'm wondering what sort of effect they have on the character of the car, not really bothered if they don't add more power as I'd be quite happy to make it more revvy or have some pops and bangs etc...just to add to the fun of driving it.

I'm about to switch from a JR Charger to a G19 Turbo setup and MTech are doing the work for me smile

I'll probably be listing a bunch of useful gear soon smile

The BBR kit seems to be a very high power with a huge cost also , and I dont see any mention of it on their website just google info from around 2010.

I saw the G19 page but they don't list a complete kit , just a load of parts.

Just spoken to a helpful chap at G19 and they indeed do supply a complete kit inc recon turbo for about £2000 smile So now I have to think long and hard about whether to take the plunge....he said around 205 to 210 hp at 7psi , then up to 250hp at 11psi , which is a lot more than i was expecting and extremely tempting. Once I have a full quote I will make a decision.

Does that include everything you need?

What would installation cost for a kit like this?

Yes it is a complete kit including a new ECU and all the other parts needed. I don't know about installation costs as I will be doing it myself.

My insurance company only want an extra £60 to cover the changes , hooray smile

My exocet is running a g19 turbo kit actually fitted by them 2 years ago and been upgraded to the new evo2 manifold and the performance figures and price is exactly the same as quoted.

Is that using an MX5 engine? If so, how do you find it in terms of actually driving - is it still quite revvy or does it get a lot more low-end torque? And do you get any interesting pops and bangs etc.. smile

Its complete mx5 based using a 1.8 mk1 engine. Its built and set up for racing so road driving have no experience with but its perfectly useable and manageable in a 600kg kit car, td04 is a smaller turbo so kicks in nice and low from 2.5k rpm its spolling up nicely and goes to just under 7k which is where I find best for track use. But the mapping is the key point and can be tuned to suit your needs especially with the me221 ECU.

I'm also thinking of forced induction for a mk1.

I've always been more drawn to superchargers (over a turbo). Does anybody know if there is a company who can provide what I need.
I don't think I'm brave/capable enough to DIY from a mini supercharger.

My MTech experience thus far with my turbo conversion from Supercharged has been great. Decent communication and more than willing to sort things out as they crop up. Mines now running 233bhp @ 11psi. Can't wait to pick it up! Great guys.

Good output. Is that an M45 SC? If so, does it have a reduction pulley?

That figure is with its new turbo smile

On the JR Supercharger (mp45?) I was getting about 197bhp around 8psi and that was with a crank overlay and smaller nose pulley. What a noise!
