Mk 2.5 project
Discussion
Yep agree with above. That one is very far gone and if the chassis rails are shot then it's just not worth repairing it. You'd be better off finding one with limited/no rust but say, some accident damage to panels or a shot engine and then swapping the running gear over (if this one is better). I've scrapped many that are better than this one, by way of an example.
Great little cars though, the reason i've owned 42 of them.
Good luck with whatever you do decide to do however.

For a mk2.5, expect £600 per side for rear arch and sill, and £1k ish for front chassis legs.
1k?!?!http://www.themx5restorer.co.uk/services/welding-r...
I used these guys about three years ago to get the chassis rails done and the work is very good. To my mind the cost was fine because it was a case of "spend the money now or you'll have an otherwise really nice MX5 with a massive MOT fail for rusty bits."
I'm planning to go back to them to arrange for the rear sills to be done later this year. I just need to prise the car away from my GF for a week so I can book it in.

The MX5 restorer is THE place to go to for chassis repairs.http://www.themx5restorer.co.uk/services/welding-r...

I spent £1k fixing up the arches, seals and suspension points on mine, had the wheels refurbed and she looked great . Took the car for it's next mot and the guy said I would need further welding done for the next mot ! So I sold up, had a load of interest after advertising on here, but still only got £1.500 for her. Your car looks a lot worse than mine was from your photos.
The trouble is that in most cases, the car needs to be a keeper on order for it to make sense for the chassis rails & sills to be repaired.
Otherwise you're just spending a vast proportion of the car's value (if not more) for the next owner to benefit.
