I miss my TVR but also like Q Cars.

Mrs RC misses her MX5 and can't drive TVR's, so I'm looking into a V8 MX5.driving

Anyone got any experience?

Funnily enough there is a chap on here who does this very thing... I'll try to find a thread he has done. BRB

www.v8engines.com/vehicle_sales/mazda_g692scg.html

Can't find the member. has a name like Miatals1conversion, or something like that.... I'm sure he'll be along.

He'll still have the experience when it comes to v8's in mx5's I would imagine.

D'oh I realise that i read the OP completely wrong!

Somehow I managed to add sentences along the lines of "anyone in the uk have any experiences (to do the work)"

hehe

I met a guy at a National MX5 Owners Club meeting that had a V8 conversion. I can't remember the guys name and I'm sure that I saw an add in the club magazine, where it was up for sale.

I think he was from the Yorkshire region; if you contact the club or look at their forum I'm sure you'll find him.

When I spoke to him he was toying with going from a 3.5 V8 to 1 4.2 V8.........

Now, now...

...actually you're both right

Contact with individuals and converters in the UK and US will be useful, although I will most likely be doing the conversion myself.

www.miata.net has an entire forum section dedicated to engine swaps. Personally I fancy a Chevy LS1 conversion...

The only UK MX5 V8 conversion I know of is Bob Carter's http://freespace.virgin.net/bob.carte

The easily tempted should definitely not use this link www.miata.net/motm/2004/burch.html

Enjoy!

The guy in Yorkshire - that's his car on the RPi site, he built one before which he smashed up IIRC.

He used to post on MX5 Nutz but the forum was hacked - might be possible for the admin to find his posts ...

Bobs site gives lots of info but he seems to have gone about things the hard way.

There is a company in Australia that imports MX5 and then converts them and calls them Bullets.

Here is one which is for sale at the moment.

Apparently 5.0 H0 Mustang is the way to go.

LS1 option means moving the steering rack and messing with the geometry.

Right just off to see a man about a Ford... evil

Put in a 550HP twin turbo Mazda 3 rotor 20B.... you'll think you had a V16.
