Omg what a difference to the last shows, it has so outgrown any venue and the organisers had no chance to park up cars that had taken 1 hour to do 2 miles only to be parked with joe public and told park where you like, such a shame and we didn't set off late either !!!! No dogs either We saw a few???? Hence time restriction how long we could be there, 6 hours round trip! No different from alder shot, and honestly what time did you guys get there 2 sit amongst the "trade stands" ?

Not one for the faint hearted, our last one for sure, wonder how many others feel same, especially the lovely old school motors that had broken down after sitting in non moving traffic for hours, poor hi viz parking guy was threatened with a punch to his face, the people queuing behind us wanted to do worse!!!

Is there a venue big enough for this???

Such a shame as people attending had really put their heart into new venue

3 hours to get in after leaving the A3. Won't be bothering again if it's this location. The venue needs motorway/dual carriage access, not T junction controlled lights followed by a single access lane. Didn't take the brains of a bishop to work out this would fail.

Not wanting to get caught in a similar tailback getting home, we left after 2 hrs meaning we queued longer to get in than see the spectacle.

Organisers must try harder or make it prepurchase ticket event and limit numbers.

Thank you, no badge or welcome bag to celebrate 40th, no one seemed to care that you made effort to get in, 12 yr old directing traffic and people parked next to you did not care for your car, such a shame

What has changed and the trade stands, please, boot sale, wtf

I'm not on Facebook, so I can't actually post on the SSR page, but I totally agree with Pat above. Some posts on the Facebook site seem to be showing similar thoughts to this.
Absolute nightmare getting to the venue. From Guildford to getting in took us 2 1/2 hours (10 miles) and we kept passing cars that were also trying to get in, going in all directions. The traffic marshals needed some form of communication with each other. We were directed away from an entrance (Northern) back to the main road, only to find cars going the other way towards the same entrance from the point we were directed towards. Madness!
There seemed to be people just parking up everywhere and anywhere and just bypassing the entrance to pay money to get in by walking in from the side.
Aldershot used to have its problems with traffic, but nothing even close to this fiasco.
I realise that it takes a great deal of hard work to organise an event like this and I do appreciate the effort put in, but Dunsfold as a venue just doesn't work.
It's a shame as I used to really look forward to this event, but I wont be going next year if it's there.

This was my first Wheels attendance. Sadly, I don't own a car that qualifies for exhibiting, so we went as enthusiasts.

First thing was how large the event is. Really great to wander around seeing so much enthusiasm for American classics. There were some real gems. The day just got better and better for us.

So, to my mind, this is a great event.

However, two things stuck out:

1. Chronic shortage of toilets. Huge queues at every set we came across for the entire time were there. Probably not a problem for many, but I had my 3 year old daughter with me and it wasn't great queuing for 10 minutes to pee.

2. Chronic shortage of catering. We queued for over 30 minutes at 1pm.

The show, to my eyes, could do with being a weekend event. All the ingredients were there for it. I'm sure there's the demand.

I can't comment on Dunsfold being suitable as I don't have the perspective of previous events. Yes, getting in and out on single lane roads can be a problem with the volumes.

Anyway, we had a great day out. The one car that's for sale that I do want to buy didn't appear to be there. That was probably a good thing. And the one car I saw there that I could happily have bought wasn't for sale.

We got there early so didn't queue too long to get in but no welcome pack or anything which is a shame. I have the previous years plaques so would have been nice to have had a 40th one

Loads of cars on the show field that shouldn't have been there and I heard they were turning cars away that should. Much agree with the comments above. Getting out was a nightmare as well.

Only took a few photos, and most of them were in the car park as it turned out. Lovely selection of cars though, some real nice bits of kit.

Does anyone know what car of the meet was? Was it the brown Chevrolet Apache 3100 Pickup?

Gixer , you can have my plaque mate . biggrin

I do find it slightly frustrating ,you have a huge area of land yet I wait for people to go home so I can , being boxed in from all sides, Rushmoor no different.

Just a suggestion but Blackbush seems to have all the ingredients for a venue , and has a bit of drag racing history .Has a market every sunday so not like its just an airport .

I don't know anything about organising an event of this magnitude so I could be talking bks biggrin

You're a star Dave! Missed so many people there yesterday!! Camaro, if no one else responds on here, I can probably find out as my mate Rob always does the PA at wheels day. Great pics too!!

Interestingly they had issues with that. Knowing the forecast wind direction, they wanted the speakers on the other side of the field and did start setting them up like that but were told to do them the other way as they have a multiple noise complainer on that side of the field. They also didn't put the speakers far enough along as the estimated number of cars was lower than what turned up.

Another interesting point someone made was one of the 'normal cars' parking area was all hard standing and yet most show cars were parked up on grass!

Were there more cars than at Rushmore? I'm not sure, when you think Rushmore had the main field and that one off to the side, the entrance and exit areas and the gravel bit where most bikes would park up - together unlike yesterday. I also used to like the banking and level changes at Rushmore, you could get a great view of the show from the bank.

Worst for me was the local jammed roads once out the show ground. Certainly glad I put a Ron Davis rad in a couple of years ago.

These were a few of the cars I was drooling over...

And the absolute highlight for me. Nick Butler's 'Revenge' from the '70's. I never was sure it still existed. I've all the original Custom Car features and build series articles. A true legend and still astounding over 30 years after it was built.

Not good news

http://www.surreystreetrodders.com/

Personally I think it grew too big. Years ago I used to feel a bit out of place turning up in a Vette. For the last few years there's been an increasing number of Jap, VW and other non American cars on the display field. I hope it will continue in some form but hopefully will go back to its routes.

Have to say the jams we were stuck in getting out were after leaving the show ground. Dunsfold is in a st place for allowing a high number of cars to disperse

I have to be honest if it were only the criticism on forums like this I'd say "suck it up"... the problem is that once it starts being abusive or getting personal let alone accusations about misappropriation of funds then that's a whole new ball game and it IMO totally out of line and some people should be ashamed of themselves

Yes, exactly right. Criticism should stay constructive. Nuisance calls and accusations are bang out of order.

Well done all you nuggets who turned up in their crappy euro boxes that nobody wants to look at and then complain about the crowds and traffic!!!

It should stay as Rods, Customs and Yanks like the good old days.

the problem is though that "custom" covers a multitude of sins from slammed beetles to pt cruisers via hot-hatches on bags
