Is there a time limit from the vehicle entering the UK to its 1st registration? I know that it should be done "as soon as possible",but if it is not then how long can it sit unregistered? Months, years??? Thanks,

It would appear that the vehicle came into the country in 2006,but was never registered! Has US title document and duty document. Never MOT'd.

Lots of valid reasons for that

Do you own the car?

Was it owned by the US government?

I am about to buy it. It was not a US government vehicle. Just worried in case DVLA tell me I am "too late" for some obscure admin reason!

I suggest you get on the phone to DVLA and talk to them about the specifics of your intended car.

What year is the car? Pre 1'st Jan 1960 will no need an MOT.

After this you need to MOT it and then complete the v55/5 and send off the MOT & NOVA. There is no time limit BTW

It is a great pity that they closed their local branch offices

It is a shame about the local offices. But I imported a 1970 Challenger in 2014 and I sent the registration form to the DVLA on a Friday (by post). And by the next Friday I'd received my registration number in the post. So they must have processed it in just 2 to 3 days. And I rang them the day before it arrived and they told me the new registration over the phone. They're not all bad!

Insurance sorted and taking it for MOT tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed. Hopefully the registration forms will be off to DVLA on Monday morning in the post!

Success. Passed MOT no problem. Received the V5S from DVLA on Friday. 1st proper drive today. Love it.
