I’ve just imported a Black Ops F150 2016.
What insurance do you guys use?
I’m a little upset at the moment. I was hoping for the garage to fit UK compliant lights or at least consult me before drilling cheap LED lights on the bumper and bodywork.
I can't help with insurance but pics? What insurance do you guys use?

Who Imported it for you?
That's shameful, you can get switchback led bulbs that show white for side lights & amber for turn signals that will replace the original bulbs (need to add resistors or change relay) for the front, the rears can use the same bulbs in the back up lamps, but you have to change the bulb holders & a bit of wiring alteration is required. Still have to add a rear fog lamp, but that can be done using a hitch lamp.
I’m guessing they’ve done it to try and offer the best solution but I agree I’m not keen. I think it’s best to just get the car from them and find an expert to make the adjustments. It’s got to pass the IVA test first so I’ll leave it until it does.
The tester has failed it in its first test. He wants to see homologation figures from Ford for the headlights. It’s all a massive ball ache

I think because the LEDs for the indicators maybe the Amber LED strip you can see? Otherwise sounds like an idea to look at if not Willpoyner said:

Never heard that before, US headlights have a flat dip beam so should be fine. The tester has failed it in its first test. He wants to see homologation figures from Ford for the headlights. It’s all a massive ball ache
Hi All,
I have a 2014 F150 Raptor in US and i'm planning to bring it back with me.
As i live in US and have owned it more than 6 months, i should qualify to pay 0% VAT and duty, but "commercial vehicles are exempt" on the 'transfer of residence' form.
Anyone done this successfully?
thanks

Hi Max,
Would you be able to help me please.
Going through the IVA process for importing my 2012 Raptor. Have been told I need to drill lights into the roof.
Cannot understand how there are all these other Raptors on the road with out this.
Any how, saw your post regarding the magnetic lights you put on yours to pass.
Please could you send me photos of these lights so I can get a set to run through the IVA.
It would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I've imported a couple of F150s including a Raptor last year. It is a pretty simple process to manage yourself if you use the right people. I bought my Raptor in Miami so had it shipped from there to Southampton. I used CF Rinkens, who in turn used their UK agent Autobox Logistics in Chelmsford to manage the process from this end. I bought from a dealer in Miami so they collated a lot of extra parts for me - bed liner, bed cover, spare brakes, loud exhaust, etc and delivered it to the Miami docks, handing over to Rinken's local agent.
The shipping took around 16 days and on arrival I paid the port fees, import duty and VAT via Autobox. I had to sign an export power of attorney form to allow the US dealer to act as the official shipper. Annoyingly the US customs insisted this was notarised, which slowed things up a little.
On arrival the container it was in was delivered to a local freight handler for offloading. They confirmed the tax had been paid and handed the truck over. I insured it against the chassis number so was able to drive it home. I received the NOVA form from Autobox , so was able to enter into the IVA process.
I did all the conversion work myself, running new wires for the lights and fitting a separate reverse light. It is a fiddly process as the Raptor uses a CAN bus to run a lot of the light functions so you have to dig deep - I picked up the brake light signal from the pedal switch to separate it from the rear lights. It will need a fog light with a warning light that is linked to the headlamps. I ended up feeding this via a diode. You need a chassis plate made up showing all the weights as the truck will not show the CGVW. The truck failed the first IVA test as they deemed it needed roof marker lights due to the width, so I added some small stick-on LED lights and it passed.
It was pretty simple overall and saved a lot of money so I'd recommend going this way. It'll be worth it!

Sorry to reply so late, just caught up with the thread. The UK regs require roof lights if a vehicle is over a certain width. I used short self-adhesive LED strips from eBay with the wiring, hooked up to the side lights, run up inside the door trim and simply covered with insulating tape to reach the roof. They passed the test and were removed later as the LEDs began to fail. That way there is no permanent damage from holes. I assume others have done the same - just got to get it through the test.

great information, thank you.Hi, found this post and had a question about headlights on the Raptor. The ones that are currently on my truck are terrible and I want to upgrade to the leds with the DRLs. The company in the US will alter them so they run white DRLs rather than amber, but what do I need to do to them when I get them in ? Is it just angle the passenger side ?
Thanks.
Thanks.
