Thanks for the positive comments guys,

Need to machine compound/polish the whole car again, once thats done i can fit the Emblems , i reinstated the Road Risks yesterday and re Taxed it..........................

Everything works and functions on the car, even the Key present buzzer works! FFS......................................
The only issue so far! lol is the wipers when turned off go through a cycle then park below the Windscreen, however the drivers wiper is just catching on the Stainless mounding at the base of the screen and stopping it parking properly, which is a bummer as i suspect the screen is sitting a tad to low in its aperture.
But for now i deffo can live with it!!

Yeah Wheels are on my shopping list, but for the time being i'l just run on the Rally's,
Actually been out in the car, and it ran very nicely, still got a nagging knocking from the exhaust over speed humps etc, thats the trouble with a 3" Flowmaster system on a standard road car, everything just runs to tight with the body/frame, shockers brake pipes etc, looks great but thats about it really, ive got 40 series cans and they are stupidly noisy, drone like mad at motorway speeds, all in all abit sh----!

I'l probably replace it over the winter with a smaller bore stainless jobbie,
But for now i'l live with it!
Ive done most of the polishing now and fitted the badges so Liz now looks like a proper RT.........................

I done 15 years on the local police RTA rotor, our area was the M2 from Faversham to Brenly , The Thanet Way to Manston and most or the A2 ,
PI's and Fatal's were always a downer,
But fortunately most of the occupants lived to tell the tale!
I used to drive to Margate from Smallfield ( Surrey) in the early seventies in the Challenger . The three lane blacktop was an experience. ! Later during the same decade I got the phone call that my gf , later to become Mrs Mikiahl ( didn't last ) was in labour. By that time I had an orange 2.2 911E and lived in Balham . Made the 90 miles in 90 minutes . Sunday morning.
All pre motorway. 45 years ago.
Apologies for the high jack.

Your car looks amazing, alot of hard work gone into that you should be proud.

One thing i've always wondered with these old V8's, can you run them on modern unleaded fuels or do you have to use additives...?

Generally ive found no real world problems with modern lead free fuels, from all accounts a fair few states never put lead in the fuel ever,
dating back years and years, the heads on my 57 T bIrd were as hard as F----, so much so fitting hardened valve seats would have been a total waste of time and money,
Coupled to the fact that in real world use they dont really get much!
I never put anything other than base fuel, however they do run hotter on unleaded which can be a worry,
Once im totally happy with the cooling system is completely leak free, no hose rubbing issues etc , il dump the antifreeze and replace the coolant with Evans, Fabulous stuff, bloody expensive but it does really work ,

The Dodge runs around 200F in traffic, a tad over the ideal 180F but well in the zone, however Evans and a good Electric Thermostatic Fan
and its safe even on the M25 in the summer!biglaugh

i'l use it for work on the days im only in for a few hours,

Got a long list of things to do come the winter, but just going to see how the next few months pan out, job losses are on the cards, so we'l just have to wait and see. biggrin

Forgot to add that the Doo Doo pads/felt works fabulous ! not very scientific but cd at 47 before to actually being able to hear it, now 27!
Much Much quieter on the road, car feels far more body dead, exhaust noise still loud but not so droney , so all in all very worth while!

So probably as good as the ridiculously over priced yank stuff!...............................................

A bit of an update regarding anyone considering restoring a yankee motor, ive just tried to order a pair of bumpers for my car, these are very cheap , and much better value than rechroming here, or that was the case prior to Covid!
back in April when i first tried to order, they were around 300 quid a pair, however one was out of stock , hence the wait, then they would have been around £600 landed to my home, fast forward to last weekend, they are still around £300 a pair, but now the postage has risen to around £1300 quid! so with duty/vat etc they are now 2K delivered FFS.........................

ive also been quoted over 300 quid for the postage on a TA rear spoiler, a lightweight item,

i had a punt around and got a price on a rear quarter panel, theses are now around 2K delivered , so restoring a yank now is stupidly expensive, Fed X etc are just taking the p----,

So do your homework before committing to a resto , people like US automotive may provide a better price now as they container stuff over??

Yep.....its Covid costs, as most of that stuff would come over as cheaper to freight hold cargo in passenger flights, but with virtually no passenger flights to/from the USA, it will be as dedicated cargo flights or FEDEX, DHL flights and they are jacking up the costs because of demand.

Royal Mail announced a 49% cost increase a few weeks ago, for sending parcels from UK to USA so its not just one way.

Probably cheaper to do that reshipping thing where it gets shipped to an address in US then sent over to you at those prices.

I don't know the pricing, but it may be worth a look.

Yeah a bit academic now, i can live with me body coloured bumpers etc, and as ive just sort of finished a motor i deffo aint doing another any time soon.
Realistically its very unlikely i'l do anymore now, just to much of a mission doing these large cars in a tiny home garage,

Im quite enjoying ragging the Dodge about, the car deffo has presence on the road, its loud and brash, and for what is a pretty heavy old thing goes very well, im currently using it for the work run, its great at the end of the day to get in the car and have a smile on my face going home even if im stuck in a queue !

My Nipper just picked up this 426 manual. It’s an older resto but been sitting in storage for a fair while so needs fettling. Running off beat and steering is lmore vague than the QE2 and leaks more oil than the Amoco Cadiz.
