I must admit that the thought of a Challenger is appealing - and the prices seem to have dropped massively, mind you as a counter to that the £/$ rate has gone tits up at the same time so not really a lot of help there!!!

Just out of pure (idle) curiosity what would be needed to convert, for example a 2017 SRT8 (is this still an option for the Challi?) to UK legal spec? The front lights should be ok as they're flat beam and so not a worry - I'd imagine that the biggest issue would be the tail-light? What else?

I imported my 2011 Shelby GT500 last year, I suspect the changes required on the Challenger will be similar. The rear lights have to converted to UK spec, along with fitting a rear fog light. It will also need a side indicator fitting, as US cars dont have them. My Shelby also had HID headlights, these have to be removed for the IVA as they require washers, which again US cars dont have. Hopefully whoever does the conversion work has some standard lights just for the IVA (not sure if a challenger has HID headlights).

Hope this helps

I had mine sorted by Sigma Automotive in Norfolk.
They carefully reworked the rear light boxes to meet UK lighting requirements including the rear fog lights. No additional lights required apart from the side indicators on the front wings. Including obtaining the UK registration it was around £2400

I moved to Australia a few years ago and the prices here for Challengers and Chargers are just ridiculous, anything from $180K (GBP100K) up to $399K (GBP220K) for Demon's. They all have to be converted to RHD, and in fairness the companies that convert do an excellent job, but still a lot more than I wanted to pay.

On the plus side though, we can still get the 300 SRT here in both Core and the full fat SRT trim, I bought the latter back in November and it is awesome, the 392 Hemi is great coupled with the 8 speed ZF, million miles apart from the older 6.1L/5 Speed I used to own, and they are only $77k on the road (GBP42K).

I live in NSW and the local police force here have loads of them as highway patrol cars.

Totally bad-ass cars. I wish they still made/sold them here is the US. SRT versions of the 300C are really quite rare and sought after here now. If I needed 4 doors I'd rather have one of these than a Charger. A Hellcat version would have been an absolute monster of a car.

Completely agree on the Hellcat version Matt, that would have been awesome! Even here in Oz the SRT are very rare cars, unless you live near the motorways of NSW of course! smile

There are rumours 2020 will be the last year of the 300 here.
