Only a day to go on this '56 Continental 11 - no reserve - currently up to £5700........rare, unusual and undervalued car (here in UK anyway) - highly unlikely to see one at any show........a few years ago and I'd have gone for it!
Rather like the black gangster Eldorado , never driven one but being front Only a day to go on this '56 Continental 11 - no reserve - currently up to £5700........rare, unusual and undervalued car (here in UK anyway) - highly unlikely to see one at any show........a few years ago and I'd have gone for it!
wheel drive i should thing something like a big mini. Now P5BNij should feel right at home.
I like the general look and shape of that, take the badging off and most people would have no idea what it was. In a strange way it actually reminds me of some of the coachbuilt Maserati 5000GTs with it its low roofline and broad, square-ish looks.

The problem is they were trying for the US buyer that might have been looking to buy an import, hence the 'continental' looks.
It's that 'continental' look that goes against it here in the UK for that very reason, compared to say a '50's Caddy which is so over-the-top '50's Americana.
Love the way the rear window is designed in keeping with the shape of the rear deck on that Eldorado,
Quirky detail feature that could easily missed ,
Getting into how many cheap classic cars are about that you can have as much fun out of
if not more than these expensive ones. The auctions are full of them.
Something for P5BNij , 2000 Maserati Quattroporte ,71,000 miles in Manor Park Classic car auction.
Estimated £12K-£14K, nice little 67 Alfa Giulia GT Veloce in period Giallo Ocra yellow.
5 speed, all round disc's lsd, all in 1967 ,wow what a car.
Also Starsky and Hutch cars , 74 Torino and washed out beige 73 Ford Galaxie.
A Mustang convertlble looks sensible at £13K-£15K even though it's a wedge but looks ok to me.
Twin Cam Escort MK1 ,Even a Renault 16TL, great car use to have one as a daily ,soooooo comfortable.
Just noticed they got another Quattroporte but a manual ,that's more like it,Even a bright yellow Fiat 128, had one
when in my 20's , getting more excited about these cheap affordable classics than all these over priced ones i'm
sitting on, real memory lane stuff for me, need a aircraft hanger quick
Some real cracking affordable classics on their site at low eatimates,
Newsatten may be worth going up to the Mopar Nats in the last weekend in July ,usually one or two motors for sale up there,
worst way you will have a good day having your ear drums blasted .

Twin Cam Escort MK1
Escort Twin Cam's are in the £45-55k price range these days......will the twin cam Escort at todays £45K-£55K look cheap when they are £100K in 10 years time
or stall at the current prices

They've pretty much already stalled. They've been this price range now for past 3/4 years plus, not really gone up at all.or stall at the current prices
RS1600's and Mexico's and RS2000 have still risen a little bit in comparison, but the old Twin Cam has stalled, as have Lotus-Cortina prices, which are still what they were 10 years ago.
Haha
After 45 years I honestly think I’m done with the yanks now
just no longer prepared to finance the stupid petrol costs ,
Ridiculous parts logistics costs blah blah
The current situation has just made it easier for me,
I’ve had a great run but it’s time ,
Factor in the stupidity of 50k for a Twin cam Escort,
The rest will be a doddle

Factor in the stupidity of 50k for a Twin cam Escort,
Given their rarity, they are beginning to be a bargain compared to 100k for a Sierra Cosworth, or similar 80's era homologation specials....of which there are more around. But there's younger, and richer people around that relate to the cars of the 80's and 90's now, rather than the 60's and 70's era ones.

Yep agree,
been out in both a 500 Cossy and that hideous Lotus Vauxhall , both were hugely underwhelming, stupid prices for cars that drive like a Ruptured Duck,
and would be blown into the weeds by any latish M Spec car........

Both have interiors by DFS/Sealink yuke

Just had a look at that auction listing, a nice bit of variety there but of course I'm biased and fancy the two QPIVs, the Alfa Coupe and that lovely little yellow Fiat 128. The Maser is now down at Migliore joining the queue of cars to be fettled and the empty space in the garage is giving me some very stupid ideas. I'd best leave it right there Quirky detail feature that could easily missed ,

Went down to Cotswolds to pick up some Mini bits this morning and on the way back up the Fosse we passed a '71 Mustang fastback and '50s Ford pickup coming the other way, a nice visual and aural treat.

on twin Webbers ,Interceptor and the Alvis TE21 on chrome wires looks good value £22k bottom estimate for a piece of English history.
Prince Phillip owned one for years , in fact the royals still may own it ,not known for selling their persal cars.
Poor mans Bentley Continental .Even fancy the TR7 convertible, Sorry getting a bit carried away with all these little gems,
Glad your sorting the Masa out, it's a short summer so would be nice to enjoy it before autumn sets in.

There will be a bargain or two when winter comes along and there may be something
worth getting you excited again,
Just had a look for that formula 400 and looks like it's sold already, think it was the guy
you know with Cobra jet 428 ebay title ,
I am slowly managing to convince myself that the fuel situation is a win win bonus for me........why? - I can appreciate my Vette so much better in the garage without using it.........don't have all that faff of heavy traffic holding me up and worrying about speed limits - mentally its a good place to be!

Really odd, I said the same thing to my wife over the weekend, We were talking and I said “ do know if I brought another car I’d just have to look at it and polish it”
Wouldn’t be able to use though!
She thought it was a good idea, no traffic issues,
Limited costs, blah blah,
Sort of movable sculpture I guess,
As I’ve said never say never, in the meantime I’ll carry on with my rehabilitation

Words out of my mouth rosco, none car people who know me can't get their heads around why i havethese type of cars and rarely use them,my anguish starts when i talked myself into selling something i
love because i think it's the right thing to do ,walking into that empty garage and the realisation of what i
have done sets in. Just seeing the car ,knowing it's there to use if you want is just enough to put that smile on your face,
Often a relief when buyers don't turn up or say ,i will think about it thank you ,that gives me time to think clearly as well
and the pleasure of telling them if they call back that i have changed my mind about selling it,not out of spite more it gives me
time to think ,can i part with this car that obviously means more to me than i thought otherwise i wouldn't get into a panic about
selling it last minute, If i had the money and space i suppose i would just keep adding and sell nothing,
The F430 is a good example, sold on the 7th of this mouth, still not been paid ,was meant to pay me on the 18th but nothing
no contact,no apology or explanation ,Collecting Cars have chased him as he has done this before but even buyiny 9 cars
from them this mouth they are getting fed up with him.still wants it but is hanging on to his money last minute ,probably
get a call a day before the transport people turn up to say your money is in, just composed a email telling him the deal is off
as his buying contract with Collecting Cars states the cars must be paid for in 7 days after auction ended unless otherwise agreed,
I've given him 21 days and still no contact , More pleased the car is now staying than disappointed it's not sold ,still boiling though
with the buyers lack of manners just because he's a millionair he thinks he can treat people in this way, Whoops! sorry guys, gone off on
one again ,just venting my displeasure with the guy,and don't even get me started on the T/Bird saga
