Haha believe me I know what you are talking about!!
If I was better off I’d get someone else to do it now !!
But needs must ,

I’m as organised as I can be in the tear down, box and properly identify every component with good masking tape and an indelible marker!
Very important this !!!

Group components together in some kind of natural order to, and don’t cram loads into each box,

Obviously this needs to be done a second time when everything has been clean repaired and refinished,
Especially the marking !!!
Could easily be 2 years before refitting so you aren’t going to remember where everything goes!!!

Take a shed load of pics at every point in the tear down,
I then upload to a file on that order, again helps the refitting stage when you can actually see what it’s was like before!!!

All this doesn't stop all F—kups but it lessens the frequency!

As I’m well close to finishing the E’ at work I’ll store most of the Tranny there, as I just don’t have the space at home,
Hopefully my youngest girl will be moving out by Christmas so that will free up a couple of spare rooms,
So I can store fully restored panels etc without having to worry about them getting damaged!

Promise I won’t bore you all with to much information especially with all the rubbish dirty uninteresting stuff laugh

These gated 'garage' community complexes are springing up all over the USA now..........basically you buy a garage space, of whatever size suits, and fit it out as you want in terms of workshop living space etc., and you live in a gated community of petrolheads, with access to your own track and other 'resort style' ammenities.......oh how the other half live cool

https://themotorenclave.com/garages

Can you imagine the uproar with local authority if anyone tried to do the same here in the UK....
Absolute heaven, and by the sea as well, must check my numbers this morning, coffee
Motorclave are asking $590,000 for a 831ft2 shed!!!!!
That is £560/ft2.
That is the more than the price of many flats in North London!
The UK must be slipping well behind. We are paupers.

The States is the land of the haves and the have-nots, not much in between. Not a place to live if you're not pretty wealthy IMO.

No, keep the updates coming! You could always start a build thread if you prefer, but please put it in the Yank section if you do, this bit of the forum is nicely free of a-holes. Well, except me maybe. biggrinwhistle

haha,
i'l just update on here, its such a slow long winded and often tedious process, but youll see it slowly getting worse, then hopefully staring to look like a car again, ive plenty of interest and eager to get it the hard work parts done, then i can get the car finished to a decent standard once ive retired,

so glad weve got the B' to use, i'l bring it home tomorrow

We are paupers, well at least a high percentage are,

Although there are some talking the market down in the States for what i can see there is no end of silly money changing hands

for both classic and super cars , the market also still looks strong in Europe in comparison to the UK looking at prices being achieved

on the on-line auctions such as "Collecting Cars" and "Car & Classic who are now are selling world wide,

You just have to look at the results from the main stream auction houses to see decline in prices of classic cars over the last 18 mouths or so,

Of cause there are the exceptions for something rare or exceptional nice with the help of 2 or 3 bidders locking horns together producing

a higher than average result for both the auction and the seller.

Believe you me. I don't think anyone on here will find the T/A restoration boring in the slightest.
I think we are all very much looking forward to seeing this project come to life, warts and all smile

Now this is going to take awhile!!
OMD , it’s horrible, hair line cracks everywhere
Each one has to be ground out with a die file
Filled with Epoxy/Urethane then hand blocked
Hate to think how many hours this alone will burn through!

Obviously Wheeler dealers would have it done in 20 minutes hehe

Alas not in the real world…..

Great looking car, mucho messed with, tons of cash invested in this TA, god knows how one would value it???
ive no doubt i'l be able to get mine to a similar level body and paint wise, but nowhere near mechanically, Ali heads, Dougs Headers , Injected etc,
trick suspension, all completely out of reach for me,

Its funny but my car seems much plainer than most later cars, Hood off tonight, hinges ready for resto, Rad out, Rad cowl etc, Shaker/inlet etc,
so looking less busy now, Quarters next, keen to get them off so i can see how good/bad the bulkhead/cowl is?
hoping its sound, as they are fiddly to repair....................................

Good looking Boss,
Love the shaker on these, Hipo 302 4 speed
Fabulous,
If I lived in Humberside I’d have at least 3 muscle cars!!
So much for the wealthy south !

This , the 70 TA and the 69 Z28 probably my top 3
Just a bit smaller than things like Road Runners etc

Grabber Orange is a nice colour as well smile

Not sure I'd pick 3 x muscle cars, even if living in North Humberside... laugh

I'd want variety in a 3 car garage, so I'd want one muscle and one cruiser to join the hot rod. Actually, I'd probably combine the muscle/cruiser into one (maybe a '55 or 56 Chrysler 300) and then something 60's or 70's British, like a Lotus-Cortina or go back to an AVO RS Escort again (although my knackered left shoulder might mean a RHD manual car would be have to be struck off the list and maybe a 60's Jag Mk.2 or S-Type with an auto would get the nod instead)

I'd be happy with that 3 car combo.... biggrin

Monthly Essex regional CCCUK meet. Thought I'd post this rather nice C2 coupe......but met-up with old SE Essex buddy Jason with his 35 year owned 455 TA. Originally white, then mat black 'wrap', now dark bronze matt 'wrap' it has 5 speed Tremec and Torqstorm 'huffer' (similar to Vortech and Procharger) with FiTech 4 bbl throttle body injection. Thought N@T might like this!

Another messed with car, but being realistic these are over 50 years old now so it isn’t surprising that lots of bits have been replaced with new parts,
Ali heads and inlet seems to be the norm
And I suppose after 35 of ownership, like your Vette Rosco it’s a on going process,

Liegh the Boss is on collecting cars
It was 11k yesterday??

£15k now.......

Be interesting to see what this ends up selling for (if it sells) as it looks a nice car (dyno sheet was interesting smile)
That's a $80k-110k car in the USA.

If I’m honest time is one of the commodities I don’t have now,
And feeling crap a lot of the time is a worry
Maybe in coincidence blah blah but ever since I had the pneumonia jab I’ve been plagued with chest and sinus issues,
Been coughing now for almost 5 weeks, just can’t seem to shake it off ?

So doing the full Monty on the TA seems quite terrifying at this time!
Plus I’ll need to carry on working to have any chance of getting it done, one from a work shop point of view and secondly I’ll need the money to help fund it!

I’ve done loads in the past and never considered my body complaining,
But now ???
