The Charger will look cool everywhere where the Aston may only look cool if that's the right word for a Aston at the golf course, Still good money for the seller, and the Charger still sits up there with the best.................... as RR said it completely eclipsed the Aston, which is mad given the difference in sheer quality ! mad world ...............

I love old Astons, but, personally I'd have the Charger as its just more me.....and still cheaper to run out of the two.

For me it would be the Dodge every time, purely coz i could afford to run the Dodge, fix it when its breaks, 6K complete sheet metal renew, Aston 6K for a quarter !
The money knobs buying these dont have to worry about such things, nice! ......................
My mate who owned the Aston that sold on Collecting Cars said that if he got a invoice for less than a grand The money knobs buying these dont have to worry about such things, nice! ......................
be it only a minor repair he would breath a sigh of relief as most would be far in excess of that, he's down to one
Aston now which has just gone off for a service so he's not out of the woods yet,
The good news for me is there is now a empty storage space so got somewhere for the MK2 to go when finished
unless he beats me to it as he's already got his head in "Car & Classics" and" PH classifieds"

Just watched a great vid on the Ford 427 Cammer, real interesting stuff, part no's for a 4v rated at 600 + HP, ans a 8V at almost 700 HP!
50 odd years , we really aint moved on much!
As great as the engineering was - could you imagine that being marketed as a production option in the 60's - with its 6' cam chain, the 'stretch' and warranty claims when things 'collide' - then with all that HP there would have been the 'bleating' sounds from enviromentalists - and the insurance companies. Roll forward 40/50 years it take people/companies like John Kasse to take a Boss 429 with modern materials and manufacturing methods and make it useable - people like Arias to make a Hemi head for a big block Chevy, although some more recent things like the three valve BBC have fallen by the wayside - think Valley still offer 4 valve heads http://www.valleyhead.com/thunder.html - If I was a Harley freak this in the day would have done it for me http://www.valleyhead.com/thunder.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQxZ9vpKpLo50 odd years , we really aint moved on much!

To think i once owned a DB4 ,a series V to boot for the princely sum of £750, sold it for £1250 and thought i did well,I love old Astons, but, personally I'd have the Charger as its just more me.....and still cheaper to run out of the two.
Found it under a tree looking a bit sad needing a clutch and hanging on one hinge on the drivers door,
followed by a couple DB 6's one manual vantage and the other a dog of a auto all on their narrow Avon cross- ply's Turbo Speeds,
from memory around £2,500 each, maybe a little more for the manual but only hundreds.
The manual Vantage almost costing me my marriage, still being in Harley Street at 6 o'clock
buying it when i had to fly out of Heathrow for my honeymoon at 9.30pm the same night .
I remember a very urgent sometimes terrifying 75 mile drive back home only to vividly then dumped the DB6 at my parents house
and do it all over again heading for Heathrow, Remember no mobiles then, she was panicking a little and slightly cross with me.
Then numerous DB S's , 6 pots and V8' s all tanks really ,not that fast making lots of noise but getting no where ,
They were all worthless badly maintained cars then but wouldn't mind a DB4 GT in sage green or silver birch please
with a set of Borrani wires if not to much trouble,

length posts ,what you mean they already are
I think a lot of us could who have owned these sort of cars through the years and can relate to it and tell similar stories.,
never a dull moment , maybe that could be the title
I think you already have enough books ,is there room for anymore.
Had to bin my 55 year collection of mags the other day before the builders moved in ,thousands and i mean thousands went,
kept very few , left it to last minute again and run out of time to go through them.

Anyone see the 59 C1 on PH Classified, stunning colour scheme ,makes a change from the normal red/white but £110K
But does go with the ultimate number plate, This car does look pretty special but is it worth that money, who knows ??
What it does mean that anyone with a good to average example will now think their C1 is worth £100K give or take a grand or two. ,
and here we go again folks,

£110k for the least desirable C1......i.e a PG car, and with such a non-original engine bay, with aftermarket air cleaner and cam covers (and maybe other undisclosed engine mods) and a disc brake conversion. But does go with the ultimate number plate, This car does look pretty special but is it worth that money, who knows ??

It doesn't even say whether its the original 283 or not.
Its not one thing nor the other. Its not a full on resto-mod/custom job to appeal to the drive like a modern car, but look (sort of) like an old car, and it's not a valuable original or restored car because of the mods (and PG).
You'd get a real nice restored C1 in the USA for that money...and in a nice colour scheme

The pops in the roof sounds ominous ? if its close to the drip rails, its almost a certainty its roof metal corrosion , the whole water in the primer thing is generally boll----, for the last 30 years weve been using 2k/ epoxy type paints, which dont really absorb water, yeah water can get in the paint if the compressed air isnt properly trapped, but these days thats hard to believe!
These are old old cars, and almost all are corroded to some extent............................... unless they come from Southern California in which case only metal from Coventry rust's !
No, it's just generally on the flat surface, not near the edges in particular, and none near the drip rails.. I'll try and take a photo, but they hardly show up on pics. These are old old cars, and almost all are corroded to some extent............................... unless they come from Southern California in which case only metal from Coventry rust's !
I also took the left hand A pillar trim off to treat the rust, which I assumed would be just as bad as the other side. Erm, practically no rust. Go figure! Mind you, no surprise they do rust, there's bugger all paint on there, just a light mist of the original yellow. I painted all the edges with POR15 and left it at that.
My OCD would require a complete bare metal, Quality Echo Phos etch, them prime and refinish, or sell up and by the Beast of a car youve already put pics up of, Proper Muscle car.................................................
Been using the Dodge for work this week, 4 O'clock is smile time...............................................
I've bought tickets for the Pod on Sunday, anyone else going?

Dragging the topic back to my money pit Firebird, I dug out this pic that shows it in progress. Nothing especially horrific on the roof that I can see? Obviously not the most thorough of jobs mind, they left the glass in...

They probably been there before and decided that the glass was best left alone ,none of that looks cheap to replace,I've bought tickets for the Pod on Sunday, anyone else going?
At least it's back to metal .

I always remove the glass, its abit scary with the front, but the rears are bomb proof! the only way to know the apertures are sound,
its a constant water trap and has been wet on and off for over 50 years.......................
My RT still retains its front glass, its road rashed but reasonable ok, may not be the one fitted from new, but its a genuine Penta Star Chrysler screen.
dated 71' my bum went a tad when i removed it,
We did think about Mopar meet, weve not been for the last 2 years, but not bothering this year as well, its just to far to travel with my still dodgy left leg,
i can do an hour of so in the Dodge, then the seating position starts to take its toll!
Ones sits low and almost straight legged in the car, canes my knee after a hour or so! Plus i left foot brake which makes it worse!
Sitting on the floor with ice packs around my knee as im typing this following hours at work on my poor old feet!
Im getting to old for this S---!

what you have been though.
Must have been tuff last week if anyone had to work through all that heat,
My son had to wear his boiler suit, steel capped boots , cloves ,helmet and mask and then get into red hot cars that been sitting
in the sun all day so not much fun for a lot of people,
Would loved to go to the Pod as there isn't much else going on but i've arranged my daughters 40th birthday party for the weekend with lots
to organise . With her mother coming perhaps it might be a idea to disappear but don't think it will would go down to well,.
The Redhill cruise looks a good night in August ,about a hour and a half drive for me if traffic is ok,
Is it far from you guys to get there. missed it last year as i didn't even know it was on not being on social media but looked
great fun on the video's i saw.
