Im for the most part coping with the work, im now doing 7-30- 4 pm, 4 days a week, not quite full time but close, yeah i may well be over doing it, its still only been 4 months since the op, deffo improving all the time, but im 65 very soon, still doing a very much manual labour job, and its just me, they coonerd the other guy,

i pretty much swamped with repairs, the buses look like crap, the coaches are starting to go out again and the drivers break them constantly,
im currently doing the full rear end on a huge 40+ seater thats been posted on both sides last week, a service bus i repaired last week has today with the same driver managed to rip out the other side of the same bus, plus hit a Range Rover and pushed it into a parked van!
So got all 3 to repair now! ffs..........................................got a brand new oven that i still cant use as theve still not moved the gate and fence thats in front of it!

I some times wonder if i done something terrible in a previous life laugh

Not clear or close enough to tell regarding the roof, normal plod to doors and rear quarters, front wings have low places, bah bah, all pretty normal for and old car,

I always remove the glass, its abit scary with the front, but the rears are bomb proof! the only way to know the apertures are sound,
its a constant water trap and has been wet on and off for over 50 years.......................

My RT still retains its front glass, its road rashed but reasonable ok, may not be the one fitted from new, but its a genuine Penta Star Chrysler screen.
dated 71' my bum went a tad when i removed it,

We did think about Mopar meet, weve not been for the last 2 years, but not bothering this year as well, its just to far to travel with my still dodgy left leg,
i can do an hour of so in the Dodge, then the seating position starts to take its toll!
Ones sits low and almost straight legged in the car, canes my knee after a hour or so! Plus i left foot brake which makes it worse! laugh

Sitting on the floor with ice packs around my knee as im typing this following hours at work on my poor old feet!

Im getting to old for this S---!
It had new rear quarters during the work, joined about two/three inches below the swage line instead of on the C pillars. Doors had some repair pieces welded in too, I knew about that. All well on that front, touch wood (or paint)!

Shame about your knee mate, would have been good to have you laugh at my car. biggrin It's only 60 miles for me, so not too bad, and only 12 gallons of fuel for the round trip. laughwink Plus £30 each to get in - bit strong IMO.

Don't suppose you fancy repainting the spare Maser bootlid for me when you've got a mo, do you....? hehe

A couple of years ago a mate of mine at work knocked the cab handrails off one of our Class 66 locos when he got too close to a wagon on the adjacent siding at a set of points. There was hell to pay!

Sounds like you are having a tuff time with that knee of yours, maybe you went back to early or they are working you to hard considering

what you have been though.

Must have been tuff last week if anyone had to work through all that heat,

My son had to wear his boiler suit, steel capped boots , cloves ,helmet and mask and then get into red hot cars that been sitting

in the sun all day so not much fun for a lot of people,

Would loved to go to the Pod as there isn't much else going on but i've arranged my daughters 40th birthday party for the weekend with lots

to organise . With her mother coming perhaps it might be a idea to disappear but don't think it will would go down to well,.

The Redhill cruise looks a good night in August ,about a hour and a half drive for me if traffic is ok,

Is it far from you guys to get there. missed it last year as i didn't even know it was on not being on social media but looked

great fun on the video's i saw.

I often wonder that myself , What did i do to deserve this and where did it go so wrong ,scratchchinbut it hasen't really ,just in my mind.

65 soon so thinking positively you must be only 64,I'm 70 in a few mouths but hanging on to the 69 figure right up till midnight on the day.

Even my nipper said now that sounds really old , looking in other folk can see it so differently,

Great wife so you tell me, definitely a keeper,me i'm not sure now if i need a girl friend or a carer.

lovely kids with grand children, great house what looks like a newish one to me and one of the coolest muscle cars out there that

most can only dream of aspiring to. Yes you have all the other st to deal with which can't be easy when you are in 100% good health.

Would scare the st out of me if i had to have your knee operation or any for that matter.

Might help if your boss changed his drivers ,ones that can see where there going ,rolleyes

After this lock down i feel like my body has seized up ,every spring it takes that bit longer to feel even half way to feeling fit again

even with the boys ,

Even went swimming every day when we were away thanks to the hot weather and being nagged by my daughter, she called it

encouragement. looking on the positive side got a guy coming to see the MK2 the weekend,he's been very patient ,still running to hot but

think i've got that sussed i hope ,gave the 4 year old paintwork a good mopping yesterday ,big improvement just got to get the cutting past

out of the nooks and cranies now, horrid job as you well know..

If it makes you feel better I was 71 a couple of months ago - yes have all the aches and pains, back seizes up plus a myriad of other things faulty or falling off - but still here and really begining to enjoy moaning about everything. Wonder if this is a 'part of you' - I could certainly live with it and its straight 8 engine. Do something proper with the grille, a bit of civilisation in the cockpit and rip-out the exhaust system for a nice free flowing stainless steel header and tailpipe with fishtail - perhaps the same with the blower to cylinder head ports.

Well what can i say rosco, you may be 71 with all the joys that go with it but your brain is still one of a 21 year old going on a 12 year old

school boy,, love it,if you got the vision which sounds like you have all the hard work is done just needs your personal touch,

Makes the C3 look almost as practical as a Range Rover, Not sure if the colour is coming over in the photo, looks aubergine

but if period should be that maroon that most 30's/50's Alfa's should be although i think they were mostly red in the 50's,

It's a difficult colour to portray ,the cerice Corniche i advertised for my mate always came out red in the photo's,

On You Tube Ant Anstead has built a Alfa 158 replica grand prix car ,think your find it on the Wheelers Dealers channel if you

haven't already, Reminds me of the aero engined cars we were talking about,

Got a spare pair of goggles and leather helmet here if you need it.driving

If I was minted, I'd love one of those mad pre-war style, aero engined monsters.

My favourite is the Bentley 'Mavis'......even though its not powered by an aero engine, as it's got a boat engine, but what an engine!

I think sometimes that we were all born in the wrong era, maybe in real life it's not as romanic as it looks,

but a whole heap of fun if you were one of the lucky ones who could afford to indulge yourself in all this nonesense,

The guy who flew the silver Spitfire ,i think around the world also ownes a D Type, mid 50's Aston DB3 open race car, may have got the model

wrong as only saw it briefly in the video, and numerous other old race cars in his barn including a 20's Bentley must be one of he

luckiest men alive, seems down to earth guy and enjoying his toys not just counting them as investments.

Nows where's that lotto ticketrotate

I have a fondness for Mavis because of that wonderful Packard V12, as I had an uncle that I was close to that served almost the whole of WW2 on the Royal Navy MTB fleet, and I grew up with endless tales of those magnificent Packard V12's.....and there were 3 of those monsters in each PT/MTB boat biggrin

You'd need very deep pockets for that. There only one remaining and restored PT boat still with its trio of Packard V12's, PT-658, and that's owned and operated by a charity/trust in Portland, Oregon.

That trio of V12's gobble almost 500 gals of Avgas per hour at full chat, and an engine rebuild is probably in the region of 50k+.
