Presuming the wheels are GM stud pattern (someone hasn't stuffed a FoMoCo axle and 9" under its ass)
The C3 Vette guys love the TQ Thrusts. If you canl confirm tyre sizes, rim width and offset I can stick them on the for sale section of CCCUK website.

[quote= rat rod]Just got back from collecting; the El Camino, forgot exactly how big they are both in length and width,

the 65 one i had felt so much smaller and a lot narrower mind yon it had Hotchkis everything

which made it feel smaller and more agile.

The previous owner has spent a fortune on this 59 , uprated steering ,sway bars, coilovers and

then left the 17" Torque Thrusts on it which do nothing for the car , needs them binning and a set

of 15" fitting. The cars to big and heavy for those 17's ,bloody awful ,Love the Muncie box though

quite lgiht and precise for a yank box.

Need to get up early tomorrow and give it a good valet before going to the Retro show ,

Going to give North Hants a call see what a set of 15" plus lettered Goodrich cost these days

so is there anyone looking to buy a used set of 17" Torque Thrusts out there scratchchin

Sounds fabulous !
we need pics, even if you use ya phone! im just a voyeur now so need pics............................................... and leave the wheels ! buy a second set by all means, but keep em as when you sell it , it may well go
back to where it came from!

1000 for poverty steels to 1500 for ARE's and a tad more for Magnum 500's

ive virtually given up now, started buyer some shooting stuff that ive put off for years, and it feels great!

Yes it has got a 9" rear with a locker, would that make a difference to what wheels.would fit.

Thank you for your offer rosco, have to go wheel shopping next week ,would love a set of

Daisy Mags but been told last time i rang North Hants that they are special

order only and can't give any delivery time or firm price. A set of banded steels would be nice .

And we are off again rolleyes

Yep Chevy and Ford have a different bolt pattern, but i wont matter as the rears will probably be wider so just specify Ford for the rears,
Just make sure whatever size you go with clear the Disc's and Calipers, big wheels sometimes means bigger brakes!

Ha Ha you haven't seen my phone, i only use 2 keys ,one says hello and the other says goodby.confused

It's one of those tiny black Nokia's ,add phone to the shopping list as well as wheels .

Some times i think i need another hobby to get me away from cars, both my pasttimes whether it be cars or

being a beach bum are more summer orientated so a winter is longer for me than for most.

So need to order Ford pattern wheels not Chevy, it has all round disc's but not sure of there size.

Thanks for info on prices of wheels , still look good value ,

Did have a set of steels from my previous 59 but let

them go with the the car ,knew they would come in handy one day

but my garage is already full of wheels, spoilers and general car stuff collecting dust .

That's always a good start if i can get a car home on collection day unlike many that have arrived

either on the back of a RAC truck or tow rope.

The show i'm going to today always gets lots of interest on social media so maybe worth

looking out for a it either on instagram or a vidoe if not going phone shopping next week

and see if i can get my stone age brain around to working a smart phone.nerd

Same issue with the Monaro "ute" in my opinion. The rear beds on both those vehicles are very long.

Just spotted a blue '69 Mustang going past our house, that's the second '69 we've seen in less than a week, we saw a dark green one whilst out shopping o nWednesday wink

Other car activity currently taking place - watching various clips of the 1970 Monaco GP in gloriously grainy b&w on youtube, Jack Brabham crashed on the last lap leaving Jochen Rindt to claim the victory.

The 59/60 El Camino is huge with the rear seemingly going on forever i think due to the rear window

ending so soon compared to a Impala, much longer and wider than a Monaro ute although the 65

i had before was a lot narrower and maybe shorter and with Hotchkiss everthing felt more nimble and agile

propably nearer to the size of a Monaro but maybe still a little larger.

Saw this on Saturday when we were out shopping. Quite the contrast to the (fast) appliance it's parked next to. It looked in mint condition inside and out.

Not much going on car meet wise down here, next ones Mopars at Brooklands

next weekend and Beaulieu American and Hot Rod show in June believe it always

falls on Fathers day, lots of local small general classic shows where you can buy

home made jam fresh cream cakes and have afternoon tea with the vicar, quite like those sort

of shows for a change , upsetting the calm and tranquility of the Midsummers Murders type

country side arriving on open headers,

Only managed to get to the Saterday Retro Ride show, bloody fantastic ,lots of slammed yanks trying

to set fire to the grass ,just about anything and any thing was there ,something for everybody,

Didn't get there on Sunday ,tooooo hot for me so spent the day on the beach with the boys and my daughter even

made a surprise visit with her mutt which was a nice.

Any Italian shows going on not to far away from us ???

My very first Yank was a 67 327 , just a cooking Camaro with a Power glide 2 speed tranny
Detonated the motor when the A2 Bridge bye pass opened!
1977, seems a long time ago now , 45 years I’ve had these things for ,
I don’t miss the car but do miss what it represented rolleyes:

Think you have hit the nail on the head.

After almost dying of dehydration and looking like i just got out the shower

in the El Camino after queuing amongst all the shoppers on Saterday morning on the Chichester bypass

i would have rather been in my grands worth of air conditioned Lexus not helped by

having to slip the clutch not to bog down the high cammed engine.

Comes back to the same old question do you go modern Bullitt Mustang,Carmaro,C6/C7 and lose some of

the sense of the occasion and theatre these old cars bring but have a more usuable toy in todays conditions

Love the idea of the classics in the garage but becoming less tolerant of them in traffic .

Suppose if you just have to choose where and when you drive them .

Might be worth a thought if your mates Roush Mustang does anything for you. scratchchin

Sounds like a car-engine missmatch again?

To me, a '59 El Cam is a cruiser, and needs a torque-cammed 383 with a TH350, rather than a lumpy cammed engine and a 4-speed.

When I tell other Vette owners I removed the T Tops and rear window from May thru' September (unless raining - when generally unless caught out somewhere I won't be driving it) they look at me as if I'm bonkers (I probably am, but thats another story) - some, never, ever remove the T Tops. I hate the things - they squeak and rattle in harmony with the engine or poor road surfaces. But worse that that even with the tops off, get caught in heavy traffic and its like sharing a room with a Bessemer Converter or Blast Furnace. I've been in stationery traffic (can't stop the engine as heat soak generally prevents re-start) and the heat haze from the 'gills' in the side of the front fenders has been so great that any items several hundred yards in front appear to be 'floating' in mid air (just like those mirage images from the Sahara desert). When you do eventually get on the move the blast of heat coming from the engine compartment and under the dash is sufficient to make your eyes water..........

I've got quite a few yank shows / gatherings pencilled in over the next few months, some of which actually coincide with me having a day off! Even after all the covid stuff there are several weekends where there are at least two or three different shows on around the country so there's plenty of choice. Got a few Mini ones jotted down too which the other half likes to go to. As for the Italians, there's a smallish but very good one at the Sharnbrook Hotel in Bedfordshire on 5th June, handily it's right on the A6 main road but sadly it clashes with the Mini one at Gaydon. There's also the annual Midlands Italian Car Day (MITCAR) in Derbyshire on 19th June which I'll try and get too, it's pre-booked tickets only but well worth a look...

https://www.aroc-uk.com/eastmids/mitcar.html

I've been to a couple of these MITCAR dos and they're really good, everything from Fiat 500s to rare exotica turns up. Still got the 430 haven't you...?

I also keep meaning to go to some of the single marque shows at Stanford Hall which only ten miles away, we always go to the Mini one in September but somehow I keep missing the Italian / Porsche / VW etc shows.
