More tedious stuff !
Unfortunately this is the true view of restoration!
What is that...?

Rad shroud?

Haha yeah, fan housing , hence the Ali fan blade drive sitting on the top,
i randomly grab something and refurd it!
not particularly organised but less tedious.
But i will do the fan and pulley at the same time, i did dig the Radiator out today as well, gave it a quick inspection but unfortunately its got a split in the core, so need a recore or a new rad?
Which is a bugger as and old school brass tank jobbie is very expensive, around 900 bucks plus post blah blah ......... 1300 quid!!!!!
so if a recore is a no go , ill have to go Aluminium, and probably Lecy Fans etc,

But as ever ill keep everything so it can be put back to factory if needed .

There are good reasons perhaps not to use twin electric fans..........OEM fan in a proper shroud and viscous fan drive (even HD/A.C specific fan/viscous unit behind an alluminium radiator and new water pump should do all you need.......without the hastle of heavy duty cabling and alternator etc.

Yeah I’m not a fan of high Amp wiring on old cars,
Generally the Alternator isn’t large enough to cope etc
No at this stage I’ll stay semi original,

My fans a flexi Jobbie so maybe not correct?
But that’s a future worry!
I’ve got to keep it all rolling but also need to be careful in the spend,
Just going to bit by bit etc

Allcool based in Barking, Essex I am sure would be able to recore your original radiator.
They are on 0208 593 3333

Or Aaron Radiators in south-east London, been going since the 60's and do a lot of classic and vintage/veteran rads.

Blimey, that's some operation there, must have a massive staff and overheads to throughput that amount of cars...!!

Love the blue/white interior 71 T/A 455 4-speed, and the Brewster Green 73's. Nice to see a '69 T/A as well, rare beasts now.

Early C3 Vettes were marginal in terms of cooling.......big block's even more so......HO big blocks sub minimal. All due to reduced frontal nose area and compromised nacelle design. There are still plenty of things that can be done on marginally cooled vehicles without resorting to radiator mounted electric fans (which are ideal for cars 'without' inherent cooling issues)

Well I’ve got torn long and short tendons and a muscle tear to my bicep,
Apparently it will continue to improve and I can use it as long as I’m careful,
So hopefully I’ll be able to continue my resto but probably at a slower pace,
On the up side I’m getting stuff done at work so she’s still moving forward!

We didn’t get the battery again and our Volvo won’t have any hope of being repaired till February at the earliest,
and could be as long as May!
So we’re going for complete rejection so just a waiting game now, and we’re put as many miles on as our fleet car as possible!

I'm guessing you don't mean the normal 12v battery, and I'm guessing its a hybrid, and it's that rechargable battery pack that has gone kaput which they can't replace...?

Yep the 48 volt stop start system,
We’ve had to go via the Ombudsman as Volvo uk basically refuses to take any responsibility for the malfunction,
It’s all rather stressful and the complete opposite of what we were trying to achieve!

Wall to wall Bull—-t and everyone hides behind emails and data protection, and constantly uses it to avoid taking or taking any responsibility,

How the hell can they do that, its only a year old and still in full warranty ffs......

How the mighty have fallen would be an appropriate term to now describe what has become of Volvo, compared to the Volvo of the 60's to 00's era.

If that doesn't work out, there's Regal Rads in Forge Lane, East Farleigh (Maidstone), proper old school outfit, almost a bloke in a shed type of thing. He built a custom rad for me when I dropped a 3.9 V8 in the Defender, it's been great, several years later and still going strong. Seems very well made.
