Hi, Further research has detailed that any 1976 to 1979 would be a suitable donor, so this broadens the search as I dont really want to go down the line of having a fabricated front end as it will not then be an original spec car.

Do not discount any Firebird/Camaro subframes 70-81, as you have already found out, there are differences, but they probably won't stop you using, say a 70, the differences might be manufacturing methods rather than design or an odd bracket that you could take off you original subframe.

Hello Sheila,

I dismantled a 1978 Firebird Trans Am early last year, and have a complete front subframe. I have attached a photo of it in the final stages of recycling - had it's fair share of issues but I salvaged quite a bit from it - nose, wings, inner wings, doors, roof, interior pieces, rear spoiler, RHS quarter panel, both sill panels, front subframe, rear axle & springs, radiator core support, filler panel between rear window and boot lid, rear bumper, etc. Many parts have gone to other cars to assist in their resurrection.

The caveat: The car parts are in Ireland, and I live in Australia - tear down was completed during my last trip home. I hope to be home again at Christmas (dependent on COVID-19 etc), hit me up then if you are still in need of a subframe.

Cheers, Aidan

Hi Aiden, Very good of you to take the trouble to reply to my distress call. Yesterday I made a trip to the Welsh Mountains and brought home a subframe with front wishbones, So I hope that my need is now time and determination to get things done.If I get problems I will give you a shout later in the yearm
Many thanks.
