I am planning a trip to Angouleme in September for the Circuit Des Remparts. When I went before in 2010 and 2011 I organised it on a diy basis rather than use a tour operator. Buying my tickets direct and camping. I was planning to do that again. One thing I learnt was that if you want to be able to sit down on the Sunday afternoon you need to book a grandstand ticket.

When I was in Paris for Retromobile (thanks anyone who responded to that thread) I spoke with someone on the Remparts stand who told me tickets were already on sale. When I go to the website, https://www.circuitdesremparts.com, it comes up as being under maintenance. I have been trying every couple of days for a week. Even though it is a long way off, the bookable grandstand tickets go quickly.

Has anyone else managed to or tried to get tickets?

I got two grandstand tickets for this year's event, bought them on 25th January. There were only three seats still available at that spot, and other grandstands had all sold out, I think.

I’ve been trying to do the same in terms of finding out how to get tickets to sit down on Sunday without any success!

Having never been before, is it possible to see the racing without having a Grandstand seat?

Thanks

Yes there are plenty of places around the Remparts to stand and watch we always have a pit pass and then cross a bridge and watch facing the pits and its near to the start line

Thank you!

How about parking?

I can’t find any accommodation in the town itself that sounds safe to leave a decent convertible car so I’m planning to stay at a distance and drive into Angouleme as required. Is it possible to park?

If you get up to the Remparts early you should get in to the underground carpark, all very safe. Or you could go to the 'champ de Mars' parking. Many interesting cars will be parked there.

I just read your earlier posts.
The circuit des remparts office has had a lot of problems with it's website this year
Some UK friends have now sent off their application forms for the Saturday Rallye des Legends but as yet have not heard anything from the office. .
Has anybody else had the same problem?

I'm planning to go, for the first time, this year. I have two accommodation options - possibly the villa of a friend of a friend about 20 mins drive away, or I also have a couple of basic rooms reserved a brisk walk from the town centre.

As I understand it, you have to purchase tickets to see any racing on the Sunday? So with all the seated tickets sold, do you just purchase Entree Circuit tickets, then you can move around but don't have seats?

Also, what goes on across the weekend? Friday or Saturday? And do you need tickets for any of that?

Thanks.

DIY is definitely the way to go. The mark up from tour operators on any of these sort of trips is extortionate.

There’s plenty of parking in the centre for classics on the day.

It’s a great event; next time I go I will probably stay around Cognac and drive in from there.
