Hi

I seem to have a seized fan on my Tamora. Thinking that the other is probably close to being on the way out, I thought I'd be better replacing both. Seen these on eBay and wondered if anyone has any experience of them or similar

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391859142096?fits=Car+M...

Their compatibility indicates a match for the Tamora, so are they worth a punt? Or am I just asking for trouble down the line?

Or these

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202473028064?fits=Car+M...

Which look like Power's upgrade offering, but considerably cheaper. (They also do a 220W motor version).

I have had to replace both set of connectors on my Tamora fans as they were reporting back as being on (via MBEtools) but only intermittently working. (with several invoices of them having to be cleaned) and my wife being stuck in traffic on the M40 having to turn the heater fan on full to dissipate some heat (on rather hot day..so not a happy bunny) A@

If lots of peeps start watching an item on ebay it can prompt business sellers with marketing tools to up the price, happens a lot. Maybe if everyone reading this thread unwatches the greedy seller might drop it back down again...nono

This might explain what's going on, perhaps there's no VAT on exports, only a guess though. How much should the VAT be?

What I've been doing is searching ebay for the following....VA10-AP50/C-61A - 1221 cfm - SPAL Electric Radiator Fan - 12.0" (305mm) PULL

the result of the search shows me

and when clicking the top item for sale at £53.75 a new window opens that shows

which prices 2 fans at £51.07 each

I know very little about car electrics, so if someone could possibly advise.

The SPAL fans are specced at 120W/12A (CFM 1221). Would there be an issue with different fans of spec 220W/18A (CFM 1900)?

Or would you need to keep near (or under) to the original power specs to prevent any issues?

If the fans wiring is standard rather than having been upgraded there would be a big problem with overloading the circuits due to the much higher current draw of the 220 Watt fans

I'm assuming that it is the amperage rather than the wattage which is the important factor?

I agree with earlier comments and suggest you fit the correct fans, and don't worry about it. Cheaper units will have lower spec motors which will not last anywhere near as long. While you are there I recommend you change the connectors to waterproof versions. I used AMP superseal.

You should have paid more attention at school laugh Watts = Amps x Volts

Is one goes up so does the other
