RE: SSC Ultimate Aero TT

Thing is, VW did it properly, the Bug was subject to serious testing, arctic and desert, high altitude, shite fuel etc. How long do you think a 1000bhp Viper/Supra/Ultima or any other bandwagon400 car could survive the testing the Veyron went through? I seem to remember a discussion in the Ultima forum regarding supercharging vs turbocharging, the former seen as better due to heat containment, but doesn't fit in the Can-Ams.
If you took any 400kph pretender to Nardo in 40deg C heat to sit at WOT lap after lap on 95 octane with the air con at 20c how many laps would they last?

Isn't it widely accepted that most Veyrons produce more than the quoted 1000bhp (nearer 1200) anyway?
I too am confused as to why other manufacturers are able to knock out a 1000bhp engine every month while the Veyron suffered such an elephantine gestation. I assume it is because the Veyron will do it all day long, rain, shine, arctic blizzard, Sahara desert where as the others will not?
These points are pretty much the crux of the matter with regards to the Veyron. It's not just that the Veyron has 1000+hp or that it's a 250+mph car - it's the fact that it's such an accomplished car, and a feat of engineering.I too am confused as to why other manufacturers are able to knock out a 1000bhp engine every month while the Veyron suffered such an elephantine gestation. I honestly can't think of many cars out there that can do everything as well as the Veyron does.

It looks like a kit car, a very average kit car.
It's obviously heavily influenced by the diablo. I assume the project started as a guy either using a lambo kit car or planned too, and then eventually it developed into this.
The rear, front bumper, front wheel arches, side intake, side window and steeply raked windscreen scream diablo. Very unoriginal.
Funny you mention that. I used to live in Richland, Washington. There was a kit car company about three blocks from my house called Shelby Custom Exotics (Very similar to Shelby Super Cars and located in the same town) that specialized in Diablo and Ferrari 355 kits on stretched Fiero chassis. The quality of this car looks to be very similar to the Diablo kits they put out, and really no better. Those cars sold for $75k (turn key) and demonstrated some decent performance, but how they can massage a Diablo body and chevy power plant and still have the balls to ask for half a million dollars, US is a mystery. Granted, I'm a "yank" so take it for what it's worth, but you couldn't give me five of these things for one Ultima GTR!! It's obviously heavily influenced by the diablo.
