That's quite nice. Can you get it without the little seconds dial?

And by croc, do you mean leather strap?

That's an aftermarket crocodile one.
It's not a seconds dial but a date dial.
There is one without it and without the power reserve :

My current daily on a nato, with matching mat finish buckle. From memory the watch and strap were less than £100.

Thanks. Probably a daft question, but where do you go to find these watches? Amazon, bay of dreams, or specialist sites?

I got mine from the Seiko Boutique, but there are loads of reliable places online. I've bought several Seiko's in the past from Amazon.

Here's mine:

They are even better in the flesh. Just a bit on the "thick" side to give some very expensive timepieces a run for their money, iirc the one without a power reserve is a tad thinner.

Very nice. Is that the SRPB43J1? Is the dial an impressive as it's reported?

It sure is that model!

I'm not sure about impressive being the right word for the dial, but it's certainly eye catching under the right lights. I think the blue and brown dials are a little more striking due to them being a little bolder and more noticeable.

It's a wonderful watch for the money though, that much is unarguable. I have actually had quite a few compliments about it that I haven't had with, say, my Aqua Terra, which was an order of magnitude more expensive. Good god I love Seiko watches.

Agreed here, definitely my most complimented watch.
Mine is the SSA343J1, with date subdial instead of window and power reserve.

I didn't have a watch with a power reserve yet and I wasn't convinced by the date on the other one as it isn't colour-matched.

That’s a great mod! Really smart I like it.

Did you buy it like that or spec it yourself?

Damn. I'm going to have to get one of them. The dial is lovely.

Thank you. I bought a standard 007 and modded it with a smooth bezel and oyster bracelet. I think it works well!

If you'll forgive me, this is a copy and paste from the Incoming thread:

Gentlemen, I bought two watches today. The first was planned, the second I couldn't resist.

The planned one is a Grand Seiko Snowflake. I've always wanted one of these and it really doesn't disappoint. This isn't a great photograph, it needs a much colder light or sunlight to really make the most of the dial.

The second was very unexpected. They had told me that one of these was in stock when they emailed me about the Snowflake, but I didn't think I'd be that impressed. It's limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide (I think), and they seemed reasonably genuine when they said that they hadn't expected to get any more in, ever. A lovely gentleman (with a very impressive collection of cars back in Dubai) appeared to buy the other one as I was there.

Again, the lighting in the photo is poor, but it's beautiful. The movement is incredible too, almost as lovely to watch the second hand as the Spring Drive.

I love the GS Snowflake. One day.

We need a better shot of the other one!
