Sooooo earlier in this thread forum member dterry offered up a fairly battle weary snk809 which he very kindly gifted to me....many thanks.
As you can see its had a good working life and was just the thing I was looking for to try my first attempt at modding.
So here it is finished....I hope your like the results..got to say I am quite pleased with it.
I am glad that the watch has gone on to live another day - much better than just throwing it in the bin.As you can see its had a good working life and was just the thing I was looking for to try my first attempt at modding.

It did indeed have a good working life, worn almost every day for 5-6 years, Its been wet / painted / hit against walls / floors and apart from a couple of straps and a few marks had been perfect until the face feet detached. I think the final straw for it was the drilling of a few holes in brickwork with a hammer drill - the vibrations obviously got to it.
For a £50 watch it was amazing - the only issue I have is that the current price is more than double - If I could get another (without having to import / risk duties etc) for £50-£60 I'd buy it now!

I stripped the watch down then formulated a shopping list and ordered the bits.
While awaiting the parts I spent some time cleaning and polishing the case.
The parts arrived and I very slowly and carefully refitted all the parts... the most nerve-racking part definitely being the refitting of the hands.

That's fantastic! As you can see its had a good working life and was just the thing I was looking for to try my first attempt at modding.

I'd not been wearing this much recently as it was on a grey canvas NATO strap that I didn't particularly like. I'd ordered this leather strap on recommendation for a watch I'd purchased but the dealer couldn't supply it in the end meaning I had a spare strap.
Rather than let it go to waste I swapped it onto this.
I think it looks spot on.

That, to me, is perfect. But then I really want a Seiko spork and I also really want some Sinns...Got me thinking now about my “dead” SKX007 with the same problem on the dial feet...
Great work. I like it a lot.

yes it's my sporks little brother now......the search for my spork was a long and difficult path then one appeared for sale 6 miles from home.

Gah! Not helping! There was one for sale (complete set) on TZ a while back for about £600, then £500, then £450... I offered £400 but was politely declined. It reappeared from the same seller a couple of months later for £400, but by the time I’d seen it, it had sold.yes it's my sporks little brother now......the search for my spork was a long and difficult path then one appeared for sale 6 miles from home.

After fining this in the cupboard a few months ago, I've finally put a battery in it and found myself wearing it to work. A cheap Argos watch back in the mid 90s, it wears so light compared to my automatic watches, quite refreshing. A cheap version of the automatic Pandas.
Just want to switch for a Leather strap, what would people recommend?
