I tried that and got no reply, I’ve now got a Hexad oyster and it is perfect. The weight of the watch was a little disappointing when I got it, the new bracelet has sorted that, plus it looks much better

I have read every page of this thread in the last few weeks, some very nice watches! I’ve wanted a watch for quite a while now as I’m 24 and never really had one but always wanted one! I decided on a Seiko brand watch and found this thread while searching and trying to decide what I wanted.

Anyway, got this while in Gran Canaria last week as a gift off my girlfriend (sorry for the bad phone photo):

Went to have it sized today, it looks tight but really isn’t, I just have fat squashy wrists I guess haha! The guy, when taking links out, seemed confused by the end links and took from the middle instead, he said the pins were different or something even from the middle. I’m a total newbie to watches so I haven’t got a clue.

Anyway got me thinking, could it be a counterfeit? The jewellers it was from seemed big but it was overpriced, he took over €100 off the price because I found it cheaper. That and the jewellers being confused by the links today had me thinking! There was nothing but fake stuff in the gift shops, would they fake watches too? Maybe I’m just paranoid...?

Anyway, it’s a SRPD25K1 Monster by all accounts and I like the look of it!

I of course need to set the time and stuff but I’m not home to see it for a bit now, just put it on for the photo, it’ll get destroyed in work!

Sorry for blabbling on!
It may well have pin and collar links, which if perchance he hadn't come across before might have thrown him.

Thanks for the info! I think it’ll be that then! I just googled it and they appear to be identical to the ones he gave me back in the bag for resizing!

Hopefully he wouldn’t have damaged anything while changing them the same way he would change ordinarily links?

You want to make sure he put the collars in or it'll fall off your wrist.

Nice watch, I have a gen 1 original monster and theyre great watches.

I hope he has, I couldn’t tell you! This is a picture of what he gave back to me though:

Hopefully that’s correct does anyone know?

That looks correct for two spare links with pins and collars.

If you turn the bracelet on its side and look in each link hole in turn you will be able to see if any pins are missing their collars as they sit right at the outer edges, however, I think the chances of them being missing are quite low.

My Seiko Prospex links, Pins and collars looked exactly like those.

It’s a genuine bracelet.

That’s good to hear then! I did in fact look down the holes and none were missing! Cheers smile

I have pipe cleaners for wrists and I have a baby tuna which does look OK, surprisingly.

I think the next level up would be a step too far for me - e.g. the Arnie re-release and yours.

Does anyone watch a YouTuber called Bruce WIlliams? He's raving about the 6105 re-release (Martin Sheen's one in Apocalypse Now), but it's $4,000!

It does look fab though and it's likely to have sold out with such a low number made

Pearoast from the incoming thread...

Not had a new one in a while!

This is an SBGY003, it's a hand wound spring drive with no date and the power reserve on the back. It's got a small face and I believe this one has been nicknamed the Grand Cocktail, although I gather some people don't like that name...

It's my favourite new GS by far. It's really slim and comfortable to wear, and the whole thing is very very low key.

I’m getting married in a month and wanted to do something nice for my dad on the day, so I’ve had his Seiko serviced and cleaned. He bought it in Japan in 1972 when he was in the merchant Navy and wore it for a while until he bought something else and it’s pretty much sat in a draw for a number of years. Ultimately it’s going to be handed down to me when the time comes. I’ve always liked the style of it but was never a huge fan of the bracelet so I’ve bought a couple of leather straps (I’ll be wearing the brown strap on my wedding day) and will wear it on nice occasions. The jeweller is a mate of mine and we both agreed to keep it as original as possible and not to remove the scratches and dents which have occurred over the years and the patina on the face was staying too. It’s part of the story and history of the watch which I like. It’s not monetary valuable by any means but is one of two things I would grab if my house was on fire so it means a lot to me. We’re not 100% sure on the model so if anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated. Pics are from the jeweller as I’m due to get it back in a few days.
