Well, it arrived today. Ordered back in April.

I think I like it.

It's hypnotic watching the escapement at work, the pallet fork and escape wheel are tiny!

What is it? Looks a bit like a Parmigiani.

Spot on. thumbupsmile

The movement, both sides, is incredibly detailed and finished to an amazing standard. The case is a beautiful piece of engineering (apart from the shameful 3ATMs of water protection - how was that allowed to happen?)

But I'm struggling a bit with the bracelet. And therefore comfort, and that's not a good place to begin a relationship with your new watch.

It looks, to the n'th degree, finished to perfection. Every edge, face and angle sharp as a razor, but, therein lies the problem - it has a sharpness about it on the parts where it curves on your (my) wrist. I've had links on and off - half links too - but I can't get comfortable with it.

Does it just need 'worn-in'? Don't know. I'll maybe give them (CW) a call in the morning and see what they say.

Gently rub an ink eraser (the hard blue one) down the rough edges, should smooth them out.

Put my name down for a Tudor black bay chronograph is pink around 6-8 weeks ago, had a call to say it has come in and will pick it up next weekend. Pictures to follow. I had a Tudor GMT and white dial chrono already.

Never tried one on but I didn't think they looked too big in the window?

(Just checked, 39mm wide and 47mm tall. Could be a bit large on smaller wrists)

Discovered that Seagull or Sea-Gull watches were really silly cheap, and I couldn t help myself! biggrin

This one is on the very very cheap end, but it has the really very pretty looking movement.

So I m on a bit of a cheap watch bender, and I got a Swatch 50 Fathoms for £350.

The reason I m quoting the above post is that it s absolutely nowhere near the quality of the Seagull that s nearly 1/3rd the price. I was ready for it to be a little plasticky, but Christ, it s awful.

I m still going to keep it purely because it was still cheap and it s a very nice yellow, but probably not worth the money.

Also couldn’t resist a seagull

Looking at the values I might sell it, shall see! Pick it up Saturday morning.

I have a Twelve Ti which looks to be the same case and bracelet, I'm not 100% sure though. But on my Twelve the bracelet has micro adjust, the links closest to the clasp pull out to give some small adjustment. It means if your wrists swell/shrink throughout the day, the bracelet is still comfortable. Like I say though, unsure if the bracelet is identical, worth checking as micro-adjust should give you the tweaks you need for comfort.

Just received this 114270 Explorer 36 at a price I couldn’t say no to.

Came with box, papers, extra links and tags and is in fantastic condition for its age. In a nice quirk it’s two previous owners both lived in locations I have lived in. It’s a genuinely lovely thing for such a ‘simple’ watch.

However I’m not sure about the dial size, it looks a bit small to me and I do have quite small wrists. It might just need me to adjust from wearing a 40 dive watch (wearing larger with a bezel), or Apple Watch 44 but I think it wears small at the moment.

I’m fairly confident I could trade it in and get my money back so will give it a bit longer rather than return it.

Going from 40 to 36 takes some adjustment.

But 36mm is the better size on all but the biggest wrists. On yours its perfect.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely keep it and see how I adapt to the 36mm dial, I think the subtle bezel makes it look smaller.

Funnily enough I was just in a meeting with someone wearing a 36 OP, and thought it wore very well size wise.

It's really about what you are used to. The dial on the watch is actually quite big relative to the case (no wide bezel) which makes it wear bigger. I recently got a 37mm (below) which is big relative to the 42 watches I have but I got used to it and it is really not too small. The fashion for huge watches is quite a new thing but peaked about 15 years ago when people would stagger around with 45 Breitlings or 47 Panerais but there is a general movement back to more normal watch sizes in the 36-42 region.
