I believe that’s the white one which in my opinion is better looking in real life
Yes white dial SS Daytona - I have the Black dial one as well and the different dial colours make a big difference to the look. Overall, I think I would go with the general consensus that the white dial version edges the black dial version for looks and readability.chris56 said:

from a quick google it is about a 1960 (which fits with what i know) Smiths Imperial 9ct Gold watch from the "pre-Rolls Royce" era apparently.
Any opinion on these?
Think i want to change it to a leather strap, but otherwise i like the original "patina" of it.

Never let it go and keep... also make sure that all patina is kept and nothing buffed out.from a quick google it is about a 1960 (which fits with what i know) Smiths Imperial 9ct Gold watch from the "pre-Rolls Royce" era apparently.

Also supposedly the watch that Edmund Hillary wore to the top of Everest.

...and Tenzing Norgay wore what became the Explorer?
yup ......So i now have the Imperial (above) that was given to my father on his 21st birthday in 1961.
I also have my grandfather's early 1960's Smiths Everest.
I also own a Rolex Explorer an Omega Speedie and a Rolex Deepsea
I seem to have a thing for watches that try to go to extremes of distance
edit - the Smiths connection, Grandad retired from the Met in 1960 and took over security at Smiths in Cricklewood, so he probably got staff discounts.

Got the 34mm for my wife and I am so impressed with the weight, feel and finish, I ordered one for myself.
When the blue dial catches the light, it looks awesome.
Great piece for the price. Looking forward to receiving it.

Both stunning watches! Is that damasco titanium?
All Damaskos are made using their own hardened steel, including the bracelet. Unlike some brands, for example Sinn's tegimented steel and Citizen's duratec process, the steel is fully hardened i.e. it's not just a surface treatment, the bead blasted finish can make it look like titanium Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
