A great watch, my local AD showed me the green one and it really is a lovely and pretty elegant watch. To my eyes, the domed bezel is much nicer than the flat/chamfered bezel on the Datejust 41. I’m still not convinced by the double baton hour markers, but they don’t look as bad in real life so they wouldn’t put me off.yellowtang said:

I think there's a certain symmetry to it that sort of works. Regardless, this one isn't for me-it's my nephew's 18th next week and it was his choice and my AD very kindly got one just in time
Great choice! The kind of watch that goes with any outfit and works in any situation.yellowtang said:

Great choice! The kind of watch that goes with any outfit and works in any situation.I'll disagree and think the new OP in 41mm is just not as classically elegant and symmetrical as its 39m predecessor. The double baton hours are really not my thing.
I'm not a Rolex fan at all, but the only ones I could ever buy are the now old 39mm OP Red Grape and the Sky Dweller in almost any variety, preferably blue dial

Funnily enough, as much as I loved the 39mm red grape dial I felt it’s size was too peculiar when I tried it on.
The same exact feeling with the Skydweller.
Then I realised it was more than likely due to wearing a 36mm Datejust for 20 years. It wasn’t what I was used to. For me, the classic size of a watch is 36mm but only because it’s what I’ve known for most of my life.
I sent the nephew over to the AD a couple of weeks ago for a day out trying them all on, he picked the 41mm and the blue dial as his favourite combination.
He’s 18 net week, so Rolex probably do know what they’re doing in targeting a younger market. We probably just need to accept we’re now past it!

No pics as the nephew doesn't know it has landed and it's his to enjoy next week but the 41mm OP is a lovely, lovely thing. The twin batons look perfectly symmetrical with the lack of date and yes, it is big.
But! It's so thin if you're used to sports models I imagine it will wear very, very comfortably. We sized the watch from his usual watch which we managed to pinch for the day so he gets to wear it for the first time on his 18th birthday next week.
If you've seen any Rolex blue dial you'll know you can't dismiss it because of the dial itself, they do just make them just so. The rise to 41mm doesn't harm it in any way, if it helps to appeal to a younger market due to the increased size I'm all for it-the world needs more watch enthusiasts.
This is now the third OP 41 I've been offered, so they aren't really that hard to come by despite what people would have you believe. But if you're wanting a fun, timeless, up to date cheap(ish) piece of watchmaking history the OP41 is a fine addition to the Rolex history.

My wife's 40th present arrived today. 38mm Speedmaster steel and gold in the green colour scheme.Lovely thing and the photos do not do it justice, especially the detailed face markings and lovely silvering. The olive green of the strap and details are also a bit lost.
She loves it, sadly, meaning I don't get to keep it! The solid gold version would really suit the colours but sadly is way, way out of budget. I will spend the rest of my days looking for a Speedmaster 38mm case in yellow gold...

Love that - that is something that Omega do so well.I've got my cermit , but it doesn't blow my Seamaster away as much as I thought it would....
And I keep looking at the Moonwatch ... not for me, but the SEDNA version has some 18k gold accents on the bezel, hands and index.

Apparently they do a Naruto one now.Good thing no Tekken or Soulcalibur.
My Submariner was ripped from my wrist in Barcelona in 2016, I had worn it constantly since I bought it new in 1968, it helped to get 5K insurance but I was still absolutely heartbroken.
It took me a year of research to decide to replace it with a Yachtmaster which I'm really happy with for daily wear but I still wanted a diving watch so I asked the Dealer to put me on the waiting list for a Sea Dweller Anniversary.
I had the call while playing golf a couple of weeks ago and went straight in the following morning to pick it up, I'm very pleased with it and will wear it on occasion although the Yachtmaster remains the daily for now.
I also have my name down on the Daytona list, that could be a good few years yet but it will complete the set for me when it arrives, one for my daughter and one each for my two grand-daughters.

That's a pisser. Sorry to hear that. Maybe I could treat myself to cheer myself up .... The Shikamaru or Boruto
Not just the redundancy thing, but also that you like those horrible watches.
Still, it's nice to see that JAYB lives on a little in this forum.
