Being made redundant

That's a pisser. Sorry to hear that. Maybe I could treat myself to cheer myself up .... The Shikamaru or Boruto
Not just the redundancy thing, but also that you like those horrible watches.
Still, it's nice to see that JAYB lives on a little in this forum.
It'll be just another journey in life with a new employer
Not out the door yet although the letter's signed sealed and delivered,
If I'm not on the scrapheap for long it does give me an opportunity to celebrate my moving on with a little purchase

Funnily enough, as much as I loved the 39mm red grape dial I felt it’s size was too peculiar when I tried it on.
The same exact feeling with the Skydweller.
Then I realised it was more than likely due to wearing a 36mm Datejust for 20 years. It wasn’t what I was used to. For me, the classic size of a watch is 36mm but only because it’s what I’ve known for most of my life.
I sent the nephew over to the AD a couple of weeks ago for a day out trying them all on, he picked the 41mm and the blue dial as his favourite combination.
He’s 18 net week, so Rolex probably do know what they’re doing in targeting a younger market. We probably just need to accept we’re now past it!
Not wishing to sound sarcastic or rude, but how do you spend any time trying them on when no AD has any stock ? The same exact feeling with the Skydweller.

Funny, I have worn 43mm watches on my girly wrists for a while, but years ago used to wear a 38mm Breitling Astromat that sadly got lost in a house move (I know - I still hope to find it in a box somewhere).
Tried my wife's new 38mm on this morning, and found it too small for me, thinking that I would live a chrono in a 43mm size. It's what you get used to.

I don't like anything less than 40 on me.
I think that when looking directly down on the watch whilst worn, the case (lug to lug) needs to be pretty close to the width of my wrist. Too much strap showing = watch too small. Case overhanging wrist = 9 years old.

In the process of ordering a Bremont Arrow ltd edition, Royal Marines II . They will only release up to 150 of them. They are strict on the ordering of it. They are to check I'm a former Bootie, and your service number is engraved on case back as part of the deal. They give a decent discount on the regular "Arrow" I imagine this is to stop people trying to buy cheaper and sell on. If you did they reduce the warranty to zero, and will refuse to sell you a watch in the future....fair enough. For me it is a keeper, and one day to be passed onto my son.
Will post a photo when it arrives

Collected this over the weekend, absolutely in love with it! And I think as a general rule, the better it looks in person, the harder it is to photograph. I did not use a potato despite what it looks like
Very smart! These always have attracted my attention when I’ve seen them in the case, however I haven’t quite got over the line. There’s something about the second hand that I find curious to look at.Majorslow said:

While not ‘for sale’, ADs will often have your watch of interest in the safe, likely allocated to somebody already. I’ve never known an AD have an issue with bringing an allocated watch out for me to look at and ultimately secure my interest and themselves a future sale. They’ll probably make their own judgments on whether you are a tyre kicker before doing so. I know of a few ADs who have a Rolex ‘desk’ and if you are deemed to be a serious buyer they take you to the ‘boutique’ which is often upstairs or towards the back of the shop. Even if they don’t have the right colour, it’s rare there won’t be the model and/or case size you want to have a look at. EdwardC1989 said:

Lovely looking watch, I’d like to try one of these on my wrist. I wouldn’t worry too much about your photo - there are some strange people around here! Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
