Let's have a reality check... It's a stainless steel watch for £21K?
I have some land on Mars for sale, only £100 an acre if you're interested? GREAT INVESTMENT!

With this market, people have lost their fricking minds. The Nautilus was aesthetically challenged in the 70's, it's worse now.I have some land on Mars for sale, only £100 an acre if you're interested? GREAT INVESTMENT!

I must say, that I DO get your point.I have some land on Mars for sale, only £100 an acre if you're interested? GREAT INVESTMENT!

But with PP, it was ever thus. Their base Steel Nautilus has always been ludicrously priced - was just the same in the 70's. It's no INVESTMENT either...
Patek's tend to lose value in the first 2-3 years and then if the model is still current they regain a little bit of value.
A lot is due to the annual price increases of the model and then the strength or weakness of £ to CHF. This drags the resale value of used ones back up.
An example is my World Time 5130R. When I bought it new in 2007 UK retail price was circa £17-18K. I bought it in Europe along with a ladies 24 so with a bit of haggling got it for €20,000 which was around £15k at the time.
They have just stopped making the 5130R and I think the last retail price was £33,800. Used ones are selling around £24-26k at the moment.
One watch with a waiting list that sells on at a very high premium (that I have been watching) is one of the hand enamelled World Times. The wait list is circa 4 years last time I enquired. In the secondary market they sell on at close to double retail.
I bought one other Patek new (5022) which I kept for around 10 years. I sold it to a trader for about a 40% profit.
My other Patek I bought used (stainless) and about 10 years on it is worth about the same as I paid for it. Doesn't seem a favoured model but really like it. A Neptune with salmon pink dial

I was looking for something else on google and this thread popped up. I wonder if the OP bought the watch for a 'rip off' £20k...
I have to admit I turned down a pre owned one at list a couple of years ago.
