I put my name down for a GMT 2 & Sub date on Saturday just gone and got a call last night (5 days!) with the chap from Goldsmiths (Bull Ring, Birmingham) advising me that they have just received a batman watch and its mine if I want it. I was expecting the call more towards March/April just before my 30th if I'm honest and wasn't really prepared for it now..

I pick it up later today biggrin, wife isn't that keen on it though and she prefers the Sub, going to see how I get on with it before I decide if I keep it or go back to a Sub as that was what caught my eye originally .

The shop also had a sub date as off last night if anyone wants it.

Had mine a couple of weeks now and I can't say I've ever had a watch that gets so much positive attention. I was a bit unsure the blue would be that much of a differentiator from the regular GMT2, but now I have worn it several times and seen how the blue pops different shades under different light levels, I understand fully why these are top of the most wanted list. I'm smitten.

Oh and a shout out to DomH for sourcing me a new one so I could beat the waiting list, ever the gent Dominic.

Retail is £6550.

Some examples of the 'grey' prices right now due to the waiting lists...

So it would be possible to get one for retail if one is prepared to wait on a list?

Yes. List lengths vary though. Here in London you will be quoted anything from 12-24mths.

£7350 for a 2014 with the watch club! Theres one on here as i said before at £6650 for a 2016! It think a lot of it is people looking only, its like if you go on Ebay and see how many people watch and never bid?? I think it has a lot to do with people knowing what the retail is and dont like paying over's?

I know it's a watch for 2 time zones but I have to have my blue hand on the relevant 24 hour digit. Some of the watches above make me go wiggly.

Now that I've had the watch a few days, I can confirm that I will not be selling it!! Problem is that I still want a Sub non-date, and can see why people say you'll end up with both as I can see that happening to me in a year or two..

I got lucky with the waiting list. As mentioned before I put my name down and got the watch within 5 days, it may have been a batch made/released just before Christmas? My AD only got the one in which is the one that I have. Felt strange having every member of staff say bye to me on my way out.

What kind of sub no date you looking for? I have a 14060m i'll likely be selling as i'm no longer wearing it after getting my BLNR.

I wish I could say yes to getting another watch now but I think i'll have a very swift divorce if I did actually buy one! But thank you for letting me know.
I won't be looking at getting a Sub non-date until 2018 if I'm honest.

Edited to add that I've changed my username from JapFreak786 to this now..

Ha no worries!

I think i'll be getting rid of my sub now just don't see the point i'll never wear it over the blnr.

Might px it towards a ceramic daytona, royal oak or PAM48 next year

Even through there are long waiting lists, Rolex this afternoon decided to promote the Batman/GMT on social media.

First they updated their main Facebook cover profile...

Then a DR post on Instagram...

Bit of an odd move IMO, all things considered.

I love these watches but cannot help thinking that paying a premium might be a bit shortsighted as I get the impression outside of London/SE waiting times have reduced considerably since the recent price rise.

Although I do fully appreciate that being loaded and impatient might give me a different perspective...
