Quite apart from the Rolex BLNR GMT that haunts my dreams, and the 1016 Explorer that I will own one day... Probably...

I'm being sensible with a Hamilton Khaki Field Manual.

Lovely design, solid SS case, manual movement. Happy.

It will keep me amused for 6 months or so...

I'm also quite keen on the Sea-Gull 1963. Odd thing, made in China with a Swiss movement. Or Swiss machine made movements. Or something.

Anyway, I quite like it.

I quite like that too as a bit of a novelty. Is it quartz? How much?

Hand wound mechanical - Chinese made updated version of an old Swiss movement (Venus 175 I think).

£200 ish?

You should be able to find them for less I reckon. Not many on Chrono24.

Real-world option? I keep looking at this:

I really love the ethos behind it and I'm sure I'll own one at some point.
Pretty much in the same boat. Keep gravitating towards this watch.
Only wish I could see one in the flesh.

I send mine out quite regularly to people that want to try it out or do a watch review. It has a little patina about it as I've worn it pretty much for everything I've done over the last few years, but that's no bad thing.

I was! Lorne sent me this at the weekend and I’ve been wearing it since.

Now that looks rather nice. You're doing a good job of convincing me..

Why are the crown and pushers knurled?

Easier to use if you've got greasy or muddy fingers (- or sweaty little hands), and I made the pushers nice and big to allow a firm button force without making a dent in my finger. Plus, I rather like knurling - hence putting it on the back plate as well.

The knurling around the bezel is soft sided (ie rounded a bit) so it doesn't chafe a shirt cuff. The buttons, crown and back plate are sharper.

Probably will at some point. Until recently I hated the octagonalness of them, but I tried one on at AP and liked it.

I also believe they ding easily.

It isn't a Rolex and that appeals.

That's the one I tried on, but with the black dial.

If I get one I will probably seek out a 39mm.

I would love a white dial one of these and also prefer the earlier, smaller version, think the date window positioning is better. If only they weren't so damn expensive!

They are. And limited in number. The chronographs seem to go for the same or less than the plain ones don't they?

You know, I didn't rate one until I saw one on the wrist of Simon Cundy, the director of Henry Poole tailors. It looked cracking under a shirt cuff.

I’m currently searching for a vintage Ladymatic for my good lady.

Got to be gold & be a full set.

Seen loads but the search continues!

Ladymatic sounds like a mains powered vibrator from the 70s.
