Hey guys, I have an Omega Seamaster Rio 2016 watch and the time and date needs to be changed as I haven't worn it for over a week and it's gone dead. The crown won't budge at all and I was wondering if I should take it into the jewelers or if there's a way for me to do it myself. I hope I don't sound stupid!

Risk of the obvious, the crown unscrews rather than pulls out.

Yup, but it won't budge. And yes, I'm turning it the correct way!

Sounds like it’s rather tight. You could try wetting it a little to lubricate the seal maybe

Could you try putting it in the fridge for a few hours to see if the metal parts might contract a little?

Failing that, small pliers with the jaws wrapped in cloth?

A little heat (like hairdryer) not water - the crown will be 100% waterproof biggrin

Tried cooling it down and nothing moved. I'm too scared to try the pliers thing in case I break it!

Tried warming it up too and it didn't budge again.

I've wanted an Omega since I first watched James Bond when I was younger and now I've actually got one I've been disappointed so far. It's been taken back already for a service after faulty parts and now someone has over tightened it to the point of it not moving in the slightest. Hopefully there's no damage done to it... again.

This was following a service?? I must have missed that first time around.

That's really not good at all.

Don't blame the watch - Omega are a great brand. Some cretin at the service shop.

Yep, I bought it and the following week it let water into the casing while on holiday rendering it basically unreadable. Took it back to the shop and they sent it off to Omega for a service - paid by them under warranty - and it got delayed, took about 6 weeks to get it back in the end. Can't remember exactly what they said but there was an issue with the crown and a seal. Picked it up this weekend just gone and I haven't worn so I need to change the time but the crown is completely stuck and I can't open it up - hoping that they haven't damaged it.

Quite honestly I'm on the verge of telling them that I want my money back as this has quite honestly been a joke so far.

Was it new? Think you need a replacement or refund.

This.

Enough already - reject it. A sorry tale - owning it should be pleasure, not a struggle.

They said brand new although I'm questioning it.

Saw a deal the other day on a website and I jumped on it...

Seiko Prospex Solar:

I don't particularly like rubber straps so decided to try a Nato one, which I was also considering for my Speedy...
Anyway, here it is:

Not bad for 134 quid smile

My Seamaster 120 Deep Blue just arrived! I absolutely love it, in my opinion it’s prettier than the 300.

Great strap choice, goes really well with the patina.
