Paul Newman Daytona's were once in shop windows unloved and discounted to get rid of them.......stranger things have happened.
I was offered one for $25k in Vegas at a well known dealer, fully complete history, boxes the lot.

Couldn't get myself to pull the trigger at the time.

Very much my thoughts. I wanted a SD for years and bought mine (used unworn) in 2010. I like the fact it isn't seen as a Rolex immediately (due to cyclops) and isn't too big. I like pies (192cm and ~130kgs) and thought the DS was simply far too large for me; I think this one might be borderline...so I'll cheerfully stay with what I have.

Chatted to a few friends who also have 16600s; we all have other watches and all wear our SD 350 days+ of the year.

This is exactly why I like the new Sea Dweller.
I bought a new SD4000 at Christmas 2015. 4 months later trading it for a used WG Sub "smurf". The main reason is because I think the smurf is a stunning piece of kit and love the blue bezel and dial, but another reason was because I use the date function on a watch regularly and being of a certain age, could barely see the bloody date on the Sea Dweller !

I'm 37 and short sighted so I have a few years before I'll need reading glasses!

The Sub Smurf is stunning; lovely watch. They also have the joy of looking steel but being WG to most it's just a steel watch with a blue bezel. If you know you know and if you don't it's very, very subtle.

I hate it, wouldn't swap my 16600 for one despite it being an instant money making proposition.

Saw the bezel markers and thought they looked like applied lume.. but then that lume shot shows only 12 marker is lumed :/

Seems the Pelagos is still the king in this regard.

And it's flipping 43mm? Stupid.

So the SD4 gets withdrawn, used stock "evaporates" (taken off sale)

Now WF have a 2015 (not NOS) for £8,250

I seem to remember that an SD4 of that age would have been £7,250 (£7,600 new) a few weeks ago!

I'm not making any comment or judgement, perhaps ineviteble but quite soon for an extra grand I thought, probably testing the water I guess!

Why wouldn't they, there in the business to make money! I paid about £7800 for a D blue but I wouldn't sell it for that?

I know what they do for a living and that they aren't a charity, I just thought the extra grand was quite a quick leap, especially as so many on here pointed out what a slow seller it was when it was available!

Well I'm 13th (hopefully not unlucky) on the list at my local AD... I have no clue when that means I'll get one, and neither does the AD...

I just walked into a Rolex shop here in Dubai. Asked out of interest if they had any new Sea Dwellers delivered yet. The chap said they expect the first delivery in June, so I asked how long the waiting list was. "Waiting list Sir? No, we don't have one, but I can take your name and call you when they arrive".

Very surprised.

Now now you know we aren't allowed to sell on here! Lol But you can mention certain watch dealers that are mates on here and that's ok! And yes I will be putting a pic on.

I got the call this morning. The Rolex Sea Dweller 50th Anniversary will be launched worldwide in dealers on 1st May. My Rolex AD said I can go down and view my watch beforehand but they cannot sell it to me before May 1st.
